mother's day present

DH asked me what I wanted for mother's day.

I really like movie popcorn. I told him to go to the movie theater and buy me some popcorn.

Is that weird?

Yes- but heres a tip. Go to one of the cash and carry places (restaruant supply type). Costco doesn't have this, but some other bulk food suppliers do.

There is a popcorn you can buy that they use for carnivals. Comes with the oil and everything in a neat little packet. DH bought some for a work function and brough home the extra. We cook it up in the wok (works wonderful) and is WAY cheaper than movie popcorn, but tastes the same.

It's very fattening and very good. But we get the "cool parent" award when we pop up a batch when the boys have friends over.

Nice idea, but I'd probably have to drive 2 hours to get to that type of store. it's 10 miles to the movies. I just want one bucket, not a lifetime supply.

Mother's Day was always a tense day in our house growing up. I remember one year my Mom went out and mowed the lawn on the mother's day. I think that was the only time she ever mowed the lawn.

Sounds like she needed some alone time. I've gone out and shoveled the driveway when I need a break (even though we have a snowblower).

On my birthday (in June) or Mother's day we usually end up going out to the most recent released summer action movie.

Yes, but it lasts forever. When the apololypse comes- popcorn's at my place.

Our little podunk theater doesn't.

They advertised that were selling popcorn on superbowl sunday. they made a fortune.

No. One Christmas I asked for a new vacuum. Thta year was actually pretty funny. I got...

1. A steam mop and digital camera for mother's day.

2. A really nice pots and pans set for my birthday.

3. A new vacuum cleaner for Christmas.

My family was making fun of my BF at the time asking what was next. He said it might be a new washer for the next occassion. Some people were kind of offended that he had bought me this stuff, but it's stuff I wanted. If I had just kept him long enough to buy me a new carpet cleaner...

I don't have kids, but I would have asked for the same thing! Our theaters here are Carmike and you can buy an annual bucket for $15 and then refills are $2.50, so after two times of filling it up, you have made your money back (and it is bigger than the large bucket!).

And they specifically tell you that you can bring the bucket and just get it filled with popcorn without having to go to a movie!

We buy a bucket and share it with my dad who goes to the movies a lot. Really cuts down on the cost!

Oh man, I do this. DH will give me the night off and I'll end up spending it with them. Sometimes it's not that we actually want to be away from the family, we just want the option to know that if the kids ask for (insert item) we can send them to dad because we are off duty.

I just had the best Mother's Day. We did brunch at a local restaurant (six adults and six kids under the age of 8 . . . lol), and it was lots of fun. My daughter gave me a wind chime (I asked for one because the one she gave me several years ago had broken), and my son gave me another Kindle cover. Are people supposed to change their kindle covers to match their outfits or something? This is my third one so far. I am fine with my basic black leather one.
