I have a ton of breast and other cancers in my family. It's a small miracle that this is the first time anyone has wanted to do further investigating in my body looking for it. It's very scary. Glad the waiting on that is done.
I am still kinda freaked out about my chest x-ray, since I have tons of pain but only on one side of my body. But, I made an appt with my doc to go talk about it and so I am trying to ignore it until then. I guess I am destined for the heating pad/ice pack for another week at least.... argh....

Ever been tested for autoimmune diseases? Did you say you had fibromyalgia? Reason I ask is a few years ago I had pleurisy in my left lung related to my lupus and had similar symptoms and it hurt like a mo fo. One school of thought is that people are more suceptible to immune disorders after long periods of extreme stress. Same as with things like cancer as I am sure you know.
ETA: I am so glad that this test was negative for cancer and that you now have the opportunity to build the life for yourself and your children that you deserve. Persevere! And if I may be so bold, your health is just another reason to eliminate the insane in-laws.
I know that you are going to make it. Never forget the strength it took to care for your husband and raise such great sons these past years. You give me great hope Shasta!

So relieved Shasta! Such great news!
I know that medicine here in France and in the US isn't the same, but here when you have a mammo, if you need an US, they generally do it immediately afterwards (obviously you can't be in a rush).
In my experience, since this has happened to you once already, it is likely to happen again. They will probably want to do another US after your next mammo as well.
Perhaps you can schedule your next mammo at a time and place where you could have an US right away, rather than waiting and going through all that angst again in a year or two. I don't know if that's feasible or not where you are, but that's how it works here. So instead of days of angst, you have 30-60 min of angst.
In any case, yay for great news!

My original doctor's orders were for ultrasound/mammogram if needed. They just did ultrasound and told me to come back in six months. I took scans to surgeon for second look and she said followup in six months. Mine were done at radiology place.
I actually got a letter from them a few weeks ago reminding me to schedule followup.

This happens in the US too. I have had it done twice, but both times the lump was also aspirated and sent to pathology.

I assume they will want me to come back regularly, and I plan on insisting that they schedule both at the same time.
