I like to wait until the first week of January if I'm not buying specifically Christmas stuff. The clothing stores tend to have their best sales then.

Well we have been snowing since yesterday afternoon. It has been an actual blizzard since late this morning and it is not supposed to stop till tomorrow afternoon. So no shopping for us. I hate snow!!

No getting up early for me. I was sleeping off last night Although that didn't last long got texts from mom at 7:30am wanting me to take her to get her car. Went to Kohls tonight didn't find any winter tops for work. Seriously what is up with short sleeved sweaters?!?! No brown boots either. Going to have to go online I've been to Nordstroms, Nordstroms Rack, Macys, DSW, Shoe Carnival and Kohls with no luck.

I was at WalMart today picking up a couple groceries and dog bones, and I saw a woman with a heaping cart full of Christmas stuff. She must have been buying to decorate a church or something. Their stuff was only like 30% off too. Why bother until it hits 80-90%...

My wife FORCED me to go shopping with her today for bargains. We went to Sam's & nothing was really on sale. We went to Wal-Mart & bought a few THOUSAND pounds of chocolate plus a couple of little things for friends. All I can say is if the price of chocolate shoots up we will sell half of it & I'll probably buy a small island chain.

I did not go out as planned as metro Chicago has lake effect snow and the roads wre the pits. Insteak I organized/put away all my accumulated wrapping paper, gift tags, gift bags & tissue. Discovered I did NOT need anyt Christmas stuff after all. I do need some kids bday paper as 3 grands have March bdays. However, i will (try) to wait until a sale or coupon from somewhere.

MarvHolly - I bought some christmas wrap at Target that wasn't a Christmas design so it can easily be used for B'days. It is so hard to find bday wrap on sale.

With cash gifts and gift cards in my pocket, I had the URGE to go shopping Sundy - but I resisted, for which I am super proud of myself. I just thought of how much more stuff I can get in late January when it is all 80-90% off!

I thought about going yesterday morning for about 2 seconds then decided to roll back over and sleep until 10. That was worth so much more than 50% off of stuff I didn't really need in the first place. I might be enticed to venture to Target once they go 75% off although I have enough wrapping paper to last until 3010.

After Christmas sales are called Boxing Day sales, just so ya know. Anyway, I wait until late January and February to shop. That's when stuff is really on sale.

We did end up at Target to return a bunch of things I bought and didn't end up using as gifts. But we didn't go early. They still had gift wrap, so I picked up a few of those. (I am getting bored with the monstrous Costco roll I've been using for the past 3-4 years.)
And we got a couple of shelves for the laundry room to reorganize that.
But for clothes, I'm waiting for the Jan/Feb clearance sales.

I don't go near the stores on Black Friday or the few days after Christmas. I do some online shopping if I can get good deals. That's it.

We went out last night and got some wrapping paper and a new Christmas tree for next year. The wrapping paper was 4 for $3 and the tree cost $19.

I usually try to go a few days/weeks after Christmas, depending on free time, to look for Christmas outfits for next year for my toddlers. This year we just about used up all the wrapping paper so I want to stock up on that too.
I'm looking for sheets also. DD is 2.5 and going to move to a twin bed soon so she'll need bedding and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comforter. She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

The great recession is still alive and well at my house. I won't be taking advantage of any after Christmas sales. I still have one more Christmas gift to buy for my son - but it is only marked down 20%, so I'm not biting, yet!

I used to buy wrap and stuff after the holidays, but have found it's just as cheap to pick it up at Dollar Tree, Big Lots or wherever when I need it and I don't have to store it.

It's not really a sale but I bought my Grandmother the greatest gift ever and have been dying to get it for myself since before X-Mas. Sephora had this box set with 9 samples of different perfumes i.e. Lola by Marc Jacobs, Flora by Gucci, etc. It came with a roller ball applicator. I figured great choice since I was tired of getting my Grandmother "White Diamonds" every year LOL. So X-Mas comes and she opens it and I'm helping her out when I actually read the box. Apparently once you find the scent you like the best you use the enclosed certificate to get a full size bottle of that scent!!! So for $50 you get 9 different perfume samples, a roller ball applicator and a full size of your favorite sample!!! I was shocked at what a great last minute gift I had stumbled across. So yeah...getting me one of those LOL

I did go to Michaels to get some wrapping paper on sale. Then checked on a mirror I have been wanting but didn't want to spend the $120. It was on sale for $47 so I had to buy it. It looks great in my living room but glad I waited.

We hit some pretty good cloths sales. We bought a lot of winter cloths, which is good because I needed everything. Stores had good sales going and pretty good inventory for me and DH, but the kid's cloths were slim pickings. I had that problem with the kid when I was Christmas shopping for her too, things were just sold out. I even checked online for sweaters for the kid and nothing. I bought myself a few more pants online after figuring out my size at the store.

Post-Christmas, I bought a toaster, cuz I didn't get one for a gift. And a new pair of jeans.
Pre-Christmas, I bought myself a new mp3 player and a 32g microsd card for it Ugh, and 3 huge rolls of wrapping paper at Costco, which I didn't need but WANTED. And a new cd.
I've been looking for a new center channel speaker but so far resisted buying one.

I have a $25 Borders gift card which I bought through Ciontinental.com to keep DH's frequent flyer account active. I wanted a calendar. I walked into Borders and it looked like a good 30- to 45-minute line to the cashiers. I spend plenty of time waiting in lines in airports, where the consequences of choosing not to wait in the line include drastic changes to your travel plans. It was a great luxury to say the heck with waiting in line, and go home.

Childrens Place had some good sales on some winter clothes. We went to the sale section and they were having an additional 30% off of the already discounted prices. All said, we got over 50% off - which is still an insane mark up but ehh.
We buy a calendar after the new year and do some winter clothes shopping in January as retailers are marking down winter clothes in anticipation for spring arrivals.
