Does anyone out there plan to shop for specific items during AFTER-Christmas sales?
Do you get up really early on December 26 and head to the stores to stock up on decorations, wrapping, cards, etc. for NEXT year?
Will you check out the sales to use your Christmas money or gift cards?
Do you have specific shopping strategies for after the holidays?

I am planning to buy a Christmas tree after Christmas. I won't be able to make any great sales because we will be in a remote part of West Virginia, but hopefully there will still be some on sale for the following week. My main strategy is to hope that we aren't snowed in like we were last Christmas.

I try to stay as far away from retail outlets as possible on huge shopping days. I just don't have to patience for all that. I may check out some on-line sales! I usually do try to buy wrapping paper and this year I may try to find cute Christmas outfits for next year for my kids. I hate paying full price for something they'll only wear a few times.

I'll be looking for wrapping paper and gift tags after Christmas. Other than that - nothing.

I used to buy bows... but then discovered that after being smushed in a box for a year they don't look so festive good thing they weren't expensive, what a waste of money that was!

I always buy my christmas cards in January. Maybe I'll do like in Calvin and Hobbes and pick up a christmas tree.
Of course a lot of stores know that so many people get gift cards for christmas, so they keep prices high. After all, a gift card "isn't real money" and certainly isn't "their money" so they are much more willing to pay full price with it.

I'll be looking for 700' of outdoor LED lights, so I can light up the redwoods in the front yard next year.

Should we call you Sparky? I don't know, do I look like a dog with brass balls who's missing his rear legs?

Good on you for going LED. The power consumption is significantly less.
Did you see the article about the estate whose christmas display ate up about $80,000 in energy for the month it was up? It was a beautiful display, but... yikes. If it was LED lighting, it would have eaten up maybe $20k.

I wasn't specifically planning to shop, but I got a $50 Target gift card in the mail today.

I am planning my charity shopping. I want to donate more since I am a cheapskate I have trouble paying retail to donate goods or giving cash.
I am going to start buying diapers on sale with coupons to donate to homeless babies. I can buy in huge packages where a poor person might buy in small expensive per diaper packs so I can get them cheaper.

Wrapping, Christmas cards, and probably some clothes, but only, because I'm a size bigger than last year. Other than that...YM helped me realize that I have too many items to dust, so there is nothing else I'm looking out for specifically.

I plan on blowing whatever gift money I get. What's that? You're supposed to save some of it, because that's the YM way? Well, I'm not going to. Go ahead, do something about it!

Yes, I definitely like to go to the after Christmas sales. I buy most of my gifts for next year.
I am very careful not to spend too much the day after Christmas, as it is only 50% off. I like to buy at the 75% and 90% off sales 5 to 7 to 10 days later.

I'll be shopping for people at my aunt's party, which isn't until Jan 8th. And yes, I do usually get gift wrapping if I'm low.

I am planning on going shopping the day after Christmas. I generally do it every year because I buy gifts for my employees and that allows me to get them something nice and save a little money. I generally hit Yankee Candle, Bath and Body Works, and Target. I go to Target and get gift wrap and Christmas decorations and then the Christian store for Christmas Cards. I set a budget every year for this and it is my favorite day to shop. Then everything goes into a closet and it is fun to put together Christmas presents for my employees from my "treasure chest". My other "Christmas shopping" is done with my credit card rewards points. I save them all year and then cash in just before Christmas. Most of my shopping is done with just these two things!

I probably will go out the day after for a couple hours, just to see what I can find. Nothing specific in mind though. I wait at least a week to stock up on wrapping paper, gift bags, tags, etc once it hits 75% off. 90% is even better, but, unless you are there the day it goes down, forget it! I really don't usually need much but I tend to buy at those prices anyway. I seem to use more gift bags than wrapping paper anymore...I probably wouldn't NEED wrapping paper for 5 years or more.

No real plans but it depends what I see out there. I can't say I have a mental list of things I might like to get.
The GF would like to get a larger TV in the bedroom, the 19" in there doesn't cut it in her opinion.

I already went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond today to make sure the Christmas tablecloth I want is still there in the right size (and not already on sale). That's really the only thing I'm going for. The family keeps growing. My dining room table has 3 leaves in it now (and 3 more possible), so I want the same cloth I have now and just use both.

Griswald Christmas lights? We did that one year. They probably saw it on the space station. Told DH never again.
After Christmas? A new netbook if DH still has not gotten all my hints yet.

Did you hide it where no one else is going to find it?
