Century Link (CTL) in Merger talks with Level 3 Communications (LVLT) !

The merger would create a combined company worth almost $35 Billion !

Century Link was up almost 9% and LVLT was up about 10% on the news !

General Electric (GE)  is making a Bid to buy Baker Hughes (BHI)
for $30 Billion Dollars !

As a  GE Shareholder I like this deal - They are getting more Oil assets at a relative cheap price. This is a good long term play for GE in my opinion -

Now -- if only they would raise their Dividend Payout !

Some say it may be off loading Oil Assets ! Will be very troubling to me if they are selling rather than buying ! I am not a big fan of Immelt ! We will see where this goes !

I don't own Monster - but I do own KO which has a large stake in Monster so hopefully will benefit indirectly !

I have no idea. I do know that Energy Drink companies were getting run through a wood chipper something tough over Health concerns a couple of years back; and that Soft Drink makers have been taking flak like that for years...

It is being Reported that Pfizer (PFE)  is considering a Spinoff of its Consumer Products Division - Said to be worth about $14 Billion!

This is getting a mixed Reaction from Investors so there does not seem to be a consensus as to if this is a Positive or a Negative. Many are arguing the Consumer Products provide a buffer from patent expiration. Personally - I am neutral on the deal and trust management to make the right decisions.

I have seen no details on how this might be handled for Investors. One thing I don't like is the Fad as of late for companies forcing Shareholders to swap shares at a discount for new companies. I believe that is a ripoff to current shareholders!

Eli Lilly (LLY)  has announced it has agreed to purchase Colucid Pharmaceuticals (CLCD)

Deal is expected to close by the end of the 1st quarter 2017.
I expect to see many more consolidation deals in Pharma during 2017 / 2018.

Anyone considering buying into the Snapchat IPO ?

I have decided I am staying away - The shares are said to be "Non voting" shares so stockholders will have absolutely no say in how the company is run. The CEO is also on record as saying he doesn't think the company will ever be profitable.

I might not get rich overnight by staying away but it sure beats getting poor overnight !

Not sure exactly where Verizon is going with its acquisitions lately - hopefully someone at Verizon has a vision !

Geo Group (GEO)  is buying Community Education centers
which runs treatment and rehabilitative services for prisoners. It helps broaden them out some to provide a  buffer in case the government turns against private prisons again in the future. I see this is a smart move.

Frontier (FTR) is looking to do a Reverse Stock Split !

They are going to seek shareholder approval in May - I have not owned this stock for over a year now and was shocked to see how low it had sunk. I haven't seen any details on it but you can bet it will be around 1-10 or more.

The buyout was by a French company in  partnership with a Canadian company

He has added no value to GE in recent years
