I am so close to it today that it isn't funny. Patient with complaint turns out to be a lawyer, lab says we lost specimens (I know we sent them), patient doesn't agree with test we did and doesn't want to pay. And to top it all, one of my staff had her DH leave a message on Facebook of all places about how sorry he was and how he was just leaving it all. She had do leave in tears and go home to make sure whether he left her or committed suicide. ETA (Ok, thinking about it she had a much worse day than me.)

I never dream of quiting my job. I once in a while allow myself to think about the Lotto dream, but never think about quiting my job for any other reason. I can't imagine a better company to work for.

How often do I daydream about it? All the time. But I actually enjoy my job, I don't really daydream about life after quitting, I just daydream about all the cool ways I could quit.

At this point, we talk about it biweekly (when we reach a new total in the retirement accts.)
We've had a plan for the last 8 yrs., for dh to be able to retire, if he wants to, at age 55. He's 48.5, so 6 1/2 years to go......or 78 months....
........or 338 more weeks........or 1690 more days.....or 13,520 hours!!!

I used to think about it 24/7. I did more or less the same job at two different companies for 23 years (5 at the first co, 18 at the second).
Since changing jobs, I don't think about it much anymore.

Thanks for this thread. I'm completely bored out of my mind (although busy) as a SAHM and fantasize about returning to work. It's nice to know that perhaps my fantasies of work are just "grass is greener" issues.

Every. Single. Day.
I enjoyed my teaching job the last two years when I taught secondary LD students. I was cut due to budget cuts and low seniority. This year I was rehired as an elementary EBD teacher and it is the worst. I will not be going back next year. I will finish out this school year and look for a new job (I might not even teach after this year)!

Definitely multiple times per day. I wish I had the vision to think up my own product and run my own company, but I know I don't so c'est la vie. I will always be a worker, not an inventor

this particular job or work in general. I don't actually think right now I want to quit work completely but I do daydream about cutting back to half time.
this particular job I dream about finding a different one--seriously--a couple times a week, we will see what happens this summer.

Dark is dead on. My ex-MIL is an antique dealer. The problem is that you have to constantly buy new stuff to keep people coming back to look. That is independent of whether you have sold the old stuff or not. There is a limited market for almost any item you choose to stock so you have to almost stock it all . . . from glassware to furniture to pottery to collectibles and so on.
That's why she always preferred to pay the "temporary" help in kind. That's fine with me. I have some nice stuff.

I just retired from my job as Administrative Nursing Supervisor for a local hospital. While I truly loved the job, I'd been thinking about retiring for quite some time. The stress was just getting to be too much, what with my 90-year-old mother at home requiring care, too. Dealing with patients and staff can be gruesome! I feel your pain, and that of the staff member who melted down. I'm settling into the realization I'll never have to face that situation again. In some ways, though, I'll miss it. I already do.

I like my job, so I don't think of quitting too often. Maybe because I can't anyway! I have 10.5 years to go; I'll be 63 with 25 years of service for full pension. However, there are coworkers that I daydream about them quitting!

Let's just say often enough that I buy a Mega Million ticket every Thursday when I get paid.
$1 and a dream to quit!

Not very often, but I'm in pre-retirement mode too. I'd like to work for a couple more years, but I don't know if that's in the cards for me. I'm quickly going blind and while my company has been wonderful getting aids for me, I don't know how much longer I'll be able to work.

I seldom post here any more since I just can't always see my screen. My wonderful DH just connected my laptop to the 32" TV in one of the bedrooms, so I can now see it. I'm hoping to be able to post a little more soon! I've missed all the interaction with you guys!

Mid, my dreams of quitting are usually also based around mega-millions fantasies, lol! Other than that, maybe a couple times a week, depending on the week. I get jealous of DH, who is now unemployed and a student, and although he's going to get a PT job soon, I'm still jealous he's at home and I'm not (even though he's doing homework or cleaning a lot of the time) he'll be the SAH parent when we have kids someday probably and that makes me even more jealous... but I look at it this way: maybe I'll retire younger and he'll work longer when we're older

Today is starting off bad. I took a vacation day yesterday, so today is my Monday. On the drive in - I kept thinking "I hate my job" and "I don't wanna go". Then I got here and read the emails that came in yesterday and I'm thinking I really don't want to deal with this stupid stuff. Anybody got an exploding head icon?

Anne! Thanks for checking in! My amount of daydreaming depended on the job. The more I hated my job, the more I dreamed of quitting....

I don't hate my job most days but today is one of those days. I was off yesterday. Today when I headed in there was a wreck so I had to go a different way. Then my emails were yucky. Those are dealt with and I'm moving on. 2 hours down, 7.5 to go.

On top of being rainy and dreary today, which usually saps my motivation, absolutely nothing is going on today so far, phone has barely rung and I only have 1 appointment scheduled. Today is absolutely a day I dream of quitting, lol! Busier days not so much because I don't have the time to sit down and think about it

I'm off today (Election Day). Took a vaca day yesterday. I could get used to this!
<<dodges flying shoes>>
Just wait til tomorrow when I have to sift thru 500 emails, though...it's funny, on a typical day I get 40-50 emails, about 30 of which require a response. But whenever I'm off, even a holiday, I come back to at least 100 emails. It's like they sense I'm not there or something...

Some of you get together and pool your money into an investment fund. I know a great business where nothing ever goes wrong, there is plenty of work, and the customers are always patient, accomodating, and eager to pay in a timely fashion. All of the employees are happy and pleased to be at work, and they all get along swimmingly. You have brothel for sale??? It's in a beautiful state known as "Vacationland" where people from all over the world go to "get away from it all". You'll make plenty of money and enjoy your work. Oh....

I think about leaving the Corporate world and going to work at a book store or library about once a week. Not 'having' to work will be nice, but I've got a pretty good job with pretty good people, making a lot more than I would at something I think would make more of a difference. So for me, the trade-off is worth it for another 7-8 years.
