Now days, so many are doing it and getting away with it seems to be cool. What went wrong? Is it just easier, or what?
Like laterbloomer said, it's not so much that it's "cool" it's that it's "expected" to a certain extent. All savvy kids these days grow up knowing that it's not necessarily the smart and hardworking that get ahead.
I hate that, but it's a fact. Cheaters can and do prosper. Hopefully your character is worth more than an undeserved victory but that can be a tough sell to a child.
ETA: I am absolutely not saying this kid should not answer for his actions. No way in friggin' hell would I ever sue a school over this. My kid gets to live with it.
