Snow crabs are too much work too. Alaskan king crab legs are the only way to go.

The clusters and the legs actually have meat, but it's a lot of work (but worth it). I prefer Snow Crab legs. You just snap those suckers and get huge chunks. Blue Crabs just have tiny versions of the same. I'll pick some up next time time I see them on sale. They can't be harder to eat than oysters. I had to take a hammer to those sumbitches last time.

Weltz - I don't think those in the picture are softshelled crabs, but they look like Blue crabs. And they are more work but the meat is very sweet! ------------------------------- They are blue crabs, but I don't see any meat. I see teeny tiny legs and a body full of innards. Which part do you eat? They probably are used for stuffed crabs

We are fussy seafood eaters so only like fresh crab. We have dungeness crab in tanks at the store so I bring them home alive and usually call to have him make boiling water while I am shopping. He drops live crab in boiling water, returns water to boil and cooks 10 minutes I think, I don't cook them. The he takes the back off and cleans them saving the legs for me since I only eat the legs, he eats the clusters. Once we were camping on the boat and caught dungeness and cooked them on board and we used to do that with shrimp too. We just don't like seafood that is dead already when you get it except king crab that is IQF.

Why did this thread get moved to the OT sub-board? Bitching about people buying crab legs is like the original YM topic!!!
