Sleeping on the floor under the ceiling fan in the nude in the middle of winter with the windows cracked open was my only real issue...my hubby thought I was CRAZY!! Especially since I am usually COLD and have lots of covers!!

If i have a multivitamin, that has magnesium and B6 in it, would that work? I have some Centrum Complete, but never take them. Nope.

Even the Centrum Forte only has 5 mg of B6 in it. You need about 50-100 mgs for a therapeutic effect for PMS. And no booze.

I've never heard of a B-100 tablet, Sug. Sounds like a big dose, though. Is it prescribed?

Well, that's good Nana. It's not my river that bothers me, it's two weeks prior to it.

The women in my family all have bad PMS and we'd be categorized as PMDD. Even on the pill I still struggle each month. My mom has done a lot of research and also my chiro reinforced the info - stay away from chocolate, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine the two weeks before. When I do this it helps a lot with my mood swings and depression.

I have bad PMS and so does my 11 year old daughter. She has it worse than I do (we seriously do not like each other during that time of the month.) I have found that eating a healthier diet, taking more B vitamins, and taking a Flax Seed oil pill has helped. I take the Flax every day. When I say healthier diet, I am talking about a clean diet. Try to eat as natural as possible. I haven't given up alcohol or chocolate, but I do feel better during my period even without giving that up.

Wish I had a useful suggestion. I didn't have to take much more than ibuprofen the day before and the first day or two to moderate the crappy way I felt. For the past two years or so I have rarely had a period let alone PMS. Not an intended side effect of the pill but it sure is nice.

Angel, I always heard that a good, clean diet was always good for it. That's a tough one for me. I have maybe only one to 2 good weeks out of the whole month. I stay emotional and have all the PMS symptoms a couple of weeks before. But thanks about the Flax seed oil. I definitely will try that. At this point, I'm willing to try anything.

For me, I just felt out of control emotionally or something. I know that when I'm stressed about something, it makes it even worse. And my insomnia gets even worse also. Once I was up for 3 straight days. I agree, having only 2 good weeks out of a month is NO FUN! At all. Mine seemed to get a little better when I reduced some stress in my life. I'm interested in what the other posters are suggesting also. I just wanted you to know you aren't alone in dealing with this.

Thanks PC...I am so sorry that you go through this too...I felt like I was the only one in the world. As I stated previously, the Gyne told me that it was PMDD...Which is way worse than your regular, little PMS symptoms. I tried his little anti depressant pill and that sure didn't help. It gets debilitating, dealing with it all the time. Since I have anxiety and depression issues, this little thing that occurs monthly, also, doesn't help me any. I am hoping B Vitamins will help me, and I'm going to see about the flax seed oil pill that Angel mentioned, also. I know how you're feeling, sweetie.

Femme, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but none of the above suggestions worked for me. I also have PMDD. The worst thing for me was the unbearable anger that would creep in me! Gosh, I hated it!!! Any little thing would about drive me nuts! The TV at those times was always too loud. The grandkids were too noisy, etc....Anyway, I eventually had to go on Prozac. I know you don't want to do antidepressants, but honey, this has been a life saver for me! I started off with 20 mg. That did great for a while. Now, I take 40mg and I rarely have any other symptoms except for a few days of depression and fatigue. You may want to give this a try.

And then some of them caused me to get more aggressive and angry (more anxiety)...I just don't know what to do. It's so frustrating. May just have to be something I have to live with.

Femme, have you discussed options with your GYN ? That is really the place to start.

When I first started on Prozac it made me sleepy too. It soon passed though. My GYN told me that this antidepressant was the ideal one, and is being used, for PMDD. You can read about it here. www.pmdd.factsforhealth.org/treatment/meds.aspAnyway, of course, the choice is yours. I wish I could tell you it will get better, but for me it got worse and continued on with pre-menapausal symptoms--which made my life a nightmare and unbearable. Along with all the symptoms that PMDD gave me ..I then had to deal with hot flashes, night sweats, and insomnia. So for me, I really had no other choice than to go on Prozac. It has been a God-send as far as the PMDD goes. Whatever you decide. I wish you the best..
