BDI has been flat for the last year and a half, not up or down, so I am not sure what you are getting at. Slow recovery continues.....

Hey Damn,
I hear they're taking all those dead bodies from the Fuki fallout that they have in Philadelphia, packing them up on trains and carting them to FEMA camps where they have those 500,000 caskets stored for the big government Martial Law move so they can be secretly buried. I hear the government is going to count them as formerly unemployed so that they can cut the UE number too......it's gotta be true if it's on the Internet right? (bonjoir)
Remember.......you heard the NEWS here first.!!!!!!

Market Watch further explains: Just six days after the disastrous meltdowns struck four reactors at Fukushima on March 11, scientists detected the plume of toxic fallout had arrived over American shores. Subsequent measurements by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found levels of radiation in air, water, and milk hundreds of times above normal across the U.S. The highest detected levels of Iodine-131 in precipitation in the U.S. were as follows (normal is about 2 picocuries I-131 per liter of water): Boise, ID (390); Kansas City (200); Salt Lake City (190); Jacksonville, FL (150); Olympia, WA (125); and Boston, MA (92)… Can you guys just explain to me how one "disastrous" meltdown, as your source puts it, could cause more contamination than 30 years of above ground testing of nuclear bombs by the U.S (100 in the Nevada desert alone) and the Soviets, Chinese, French, India, etc not to mention all of the below ground testing (over 900 in Nevada alone), detonating devices several hundred times more powerful than Hiroshima? All utilizing materials that last infinitely longer than I-131? How is it that we're all here? Why is it that your sources never explain how this is possible? I don't know......maybe it has something do with the xenon..........

A western Indiana company that makes steel castings has laid off 85 workers just two months after more than 70 other workers lost their job.
Harrison Steel Castings Co. said Friday in a statement that global political and economic uncertainties have forced the workforce reductions at its Attica plant. The company says the layoffs were needed "to weather the current storm."
The Journal & Courier reports the layoffs have left the plant which makes carbon and low alloy steel castings with a workforce of about 560. That's roughly half of what the plant's employment was before the global recession hit the manufacturing sector.

Caterpillar Inc said on Friday it was laying off 460 workers at a U.S. plant that makes mining equipment.
The layoffs will affect about 11 percent of the workforce at the Decatur, Illinois, factory and reflect softening demand from the global mining industry, which is cutting back on capital investment because of a retreat in commodity prices.

General Electric Co. said on Friday that it will close a power turbine repair plant in West Mifflin by the end of the year and lay off 70 workers.
The plant, known as the GE Apparatus Pittsburgh Service Center, rebuilds generator coils, steam turbine rotors and shields. It is on Buttermilk Hollow Road near the Allegheny County Airport.
GE also decided to close other Power & Water plants in Houston and Chicago, Wiggins said. The company is offering affected workers a range of services and benefits, including assistance with career transition, he said.

Caterpillar Inc. will lay off up to 300 employees at its Milwaukee-area factories before June and says it will reduce labor costs at its other U.S. plants as sales of mining and construction equipment have slowed.
The local layoffs, described by the company as short-term and temporary, will include up to 40% of the blue collar workforce at the South Milwaukee and Milwaukee plants that build some of the world's biggest mining machines.
Analysts say a layoff of up to 40% of the union workforce here comes as a surprise - and at least part of it could be an attempt to scare the union during negotiations.

Bank of America Corp. (BAC) is laying off 1,320 employees in upstate New York as it will exit a mortgage-servicing facility there at the end of May, according to a filing with the New York State Department of Labor.
M&T Bank Corp. (MTB) is taking over Bank of America's Getzville, N.Y., mortgage-servicing facility and hiring about 600 Bank of America employees, a spokesman for the Buffalo, N.Y., bank said. He added M&T has about 400 openings in Buffalo and Bank of America employees can apply for those positions.
Bank of America, the nation's second-largest bank by assets behind J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM), has been shrinking and reducing costs. It said in late 2011 it aims to cut 30,000 jobs. It is now in the second phase of that cost-cutting program, called "New BAC."

In reply to post #428 and your questions . How is it that we're all here?
That's something only you can answer.
Why is it that your sources never explain how this is possible?
Really can not speak for market watch. Since they sight the EPA maybe you could find the days that seem to be missing from their website found on radnet ?
Those are good questions though.

Dow Jones Newswires | Bank of America to Lay Off 1,320 Employees in Upstate New York "It said in late 2011........that's way before sequester. Another interesting thing about banks has been discussed recently. It involves the over saturation of branch locations. In fact, I believe the figure used was 6 times as many bank branches as there were Starbucks locations. Bank of America was actually highlighted in the story. Many cities and towns have actually creates zoning laws banning banks from building branches on corner locations that are prized retail locations. Simply, banks over-built branches, over saturated the market, and are now making the adjustment. Lots of competition in banking..... Not seeing anything related to sequester here. And to continue on with the point: Before 2010, the last time that the U.S. industry saw trimming was in 2005. Nationally, the number of branches fell from 98,853 to 98,202, according to a newly released numbers by SNL Financial. Bank of America and Wells Fargo were among the mega-banks reducing their branch counts. Factors cited range from a still-elevated number of bank failures to greater use of online banking.
Yeah......that ONLINE commerce thing really puts the hit on brick and mortar businesses......and then people get laid off. Think about it the next time to check something out at the store, and then go home and order it online....

Really can not speak for market watch. Since they sight the EPA maybe you could find the days that seem to be missing from their website found on radnet ? No....I did not source them. Maybe you can finish your research. This is from your source: March 31 • As of 8:30am (EDT) EPA's RadNet radiation air monitors across the U.S. show typical fluctuations in background radiation levels. The levels detected are far below levels of concern.
Detailed analysis of RadNet air filter monitors from Saipan and Guam continue to show trace amounts of radioactive isotopes consistent with the damaged Japanese nuclear reactors. These levels also continue to be far below potential levels of public health concern. More information (http://epa.gov/japan2011/docs/ rert/radnet-cart-filter-final.pdf)The words "far below levels of concern" and "trace amounts" are prevalent throughout the report. In addition they added this below. Please pay attention to the last paragraph. "Results from a screening sample taken March 25 from Spokane, Wash. detected 0.8 pCi/L of iodine-131, which is more than 5,000 times lower than the Derived Intervention Level set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These types of findings are to be expected in the coming days and are far below levels of public health concern, including for infants and children. Iodine-131 has a very short half-life of approximately eight days, and the level detected in milk and milk products is therefore expected to drop relatively quickly."
"Radiation is all around us in our daily lives, and these findings are a minuscule amount compared to what people experience every day. For example, a person would be exposed to low levels of radiation on a round trip cross country flight, watching television, and even from construction materials," said Patricia Hansen, an FDA senior scientist."

No matter how hard they try to convince us mere mortals, the D&G crowd (along with the rest of us puny humans) are nothing compared to the entirety of the universe .... This is our universe, can you comprehend it?
Human concerns mean nothing ... so keep on spreading fear and spouting warnings about things we have no control over. We all die at some point. Live each minute as it's your last. Hoot!Hoot!

Caterpillar Inc. will lay off up to 300 employees at its Milwaukee-area factories before June and says it will reduce labor costs at its other U.S. plants as sales of mining and construction equipment have slowed. Yeah...less gold mining...LOL...Did you read the rest? Didn't think so....make sure you read the words--SHORT term and temporary layoffs. These are very specialized machines for a relative handful of customers. The local layoffs, described by the company as short-term and temporary, will include up to 40% of the blue collar workforce at the South Milwaukee and Milwaukee plants that build some of the world's biggest mining machines. Bank of America we covered--old news. As for GE: “This is in no way a reflection of our employees and their hard work, but part of a long-term strategy to simplify our business, manage costs and improve the overall competitive position,” said GE spokesman Shawn Wiggins. "The Casino" siege saga update - No one has stepped up yet to claim the reward for information on Toot!Toot!'s whereabouts. There appears to be no interest in doing so in-spite of the value of the 1.98 bit coin reward skyrocketing to ~400.00 FDN (federal debt notes). The value of a bit coin has since lost half its value.
Meanwhile, there have been scattered reports of a muffled cry for attention coming from somewhere under "The Casino". This may be Toot!Toot! trying to get someone (anyone) to come to the rescue. Poor Toot!Toot!.

Come on now....you're the scientist.. Why is Fuki supposedly causing more contamination and deaths than all the nuclear weapons ever detonated above ground over a 30 year span outside of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Just looking for the answer here...
