I need to loose some weight and not to sound like doxie, but the things that I KNOW would work for me, I can't do - going to the gym.
I don't do well with exercising at home, I can't do walking except may be once a week.
That leaves me with what?? Changing my diet, I guess and I don't think it's that horrible to begin with.
So, any suggestions?? I would greatly appreciate it.

There are lots of good home based video excersise programs. P90X is a good one. Also, you could hire a trainer to come to your house to train you. I have a friend who does this.

This may set off a firestorm of criticism, but . . .
If you really want to lose the super-fast and lazy way, look into hCG therapy. But do the shots under the supervision of a doctor, not the homeopathic drops. Be prepared for the fact that as with all diets, you WILL regain the weight if you don't permanently change your habits.
This is not cheap!!! but it works. As with all things in life, you can't have it all. My favorite business plan (and life plan too) is the guy who writes these three words on a piece of paper:
fast cheap good
and then says: "pick any two." (As in, if you want something done fast and good, it will not be cheap. If you want something cheap and good, it will not happen fast . . . and etc.)
hCG works very fast and in my opinion is a good protocol (though others may disagree). Definitely not cheap.

You have to set up your mind and just do it. It's not going to happen by magic. No fairy will sprinkle weight removal magic dust on you. You need to change your eating habits and make exercise a part of your life. Good Luck.

you have to either exercise or diet (or both). So if you completely rule out exercise, your only option is eating less/better.

Even if it's 20 minutes a day of walking, biking, aerobics. Anything to get that heart rate up. You can even do it every other day. Works for me, anyway. Good Luck!

My husband lost weight by fixing his diet, but also by going on one monster bike ride a week (50+ miles each weekend.) Granted, it is hours out of the weekend, but easier for him then finding time every day to go to the gym.

OK, so a bit more info: I don't have a clue on how to change my eating habits bc I NEVER had to do it. I would LOVE to go to the gym, but our situation doesn't allow for that. I am not good at doing video at home - I simply don't stick to it and I have all kinds of varieties.
I am not worried about the "sticking" it after I loose it, bc I don't gain weight unless I am pregnant, and that IS NOT happening.
That's why I am thinking I need ideas on how to loose the weight using the diet side of the equation. Anything in particular that works better, etc? Please!!!!

I think one of my biggest problems is that I eat at all kinds of crazy hours of day and night, bc I eat around my kids' schedules, so even though I am not eating crap, I can't imagine having a dinner at 10pm is all that healthy

As long as your daily intake is healthy and the calories are appropriate, the timing isn't as important as you would think. The reason so many people say "Don't eat after 8 pm" is because most people eat dinner, and then chow down on crap at 9 o'clock at night while watching TV or whatever.
You should start by tracking your calories for a couple of weeks and see if your healthy eating is in the proper proportions. Once you do that, you might get a better picture of what is really going on with your diet.

I'm not a fan of exercise either but do like to walk. Can you cut back on portion size or skip a meal? You can drink more water (which is always a good idea) to make you feel full. You can do jumping jacks or little things like that randomly at home if you feel up to it. Sometimes I'll use my hand weights when I watch TV if I feel restless. Or vacuum and clean more. That's really the only way I get most exercise. I like a clean house so it gets me off my butt.
Are you the one with a young child? Can you play chase around the yard with them or kick a ball around? Maybe swing them around more for upper body/belly work out... stuff like that. Your child will have fun and you'd be spending quality/fun time with them too.
That's all I got.

Portion size, is a big deal. Don't over indulge. I can eat what I want, as long as it isn't a huge amount.

My BIL just brought a weight loss protein powder that he mixes with fruits and pure juices as a meal replacement for two meals a day. He is also doing lots of walking. Visalus.com is where he got it from, but any decent health store would carry protein powder.

Do you consume a lot of sugar? If you cut out all refined sugar it will make a huge difference. Refined sugar is in a lot of foods that are obvious such as cookies, cakes, donuts, but also in other foods such as such as crackers, spaghetti sauce, mayonnaise, canned soups and salad dressings. Also, cut out refined flour (white bread, pasta, cake and cookie mixes). Eat natural whole foods such as meat, fruit and vegetables and whole grains. Snack on unsalted, raw sunflower and pumpkin seeds and nuts.
Good luck!

I'm against meal replacement. It seems like a short-term solution to a long-term problem. I'm just not one of those people that will drink a shake every day for lunch and think "I'm so healthy!" I like to chew stuff. I do know a lot of people who do shakes or smoothies for breakfast as a long-term solution. They are usually people who were never big breakfast eaters. But once you replace 2 meals, I think you aren't really figuring out a viable way to live forever, and are therefore likely to put the weight back on when you finally get sick of the shakes.
I eat 3 meals.

I'm trying to get him to do other things as well. but I know that once the 3 months or whatever passes, he will gain it all back. 1 meal replacement at breakfast is okay. 2 meal replacements a day, trouble. Plus I think he's going to stuff himself at dinner. My sister makes HUGE dinners with some fattening dessert every single day. He has to change his lifestyle and my sister should stop eating Nutella in front of him.

I have to say that I have been pretty good at maintaining my weight with diet and exercise until my thyroid was removed 5 years ago. I now weigh about what I did when DD was born 14 years ago.
I am now really having trouble maintaining a decent weight. About 2 years ago I got within my optimal weight chart with diet and exercise. I still exercise but my family schedule is interfering. I plan to re-up for Weight Watchers on-line they have a buy one month get one month free special through April 21.
About 25 years ago I lost a good 15-20 lbs and kept it off for many years. I rode an exercise bike daily and did a tape at home. I do much better eating less if I exercise. So I would commit to some form of exercise. If you refuse to exercise then I would do a more formal diet program like WW. WW has the best record for people keeping the weight off, and as I am lactose intolerant I like WW because many prepared foods have stuff in them that I can not eat.

You have kids right? Get an xbox with a kinect and torture them by not letting them play with it. I've had the kinect for two weeks and the Star Wars game is kicking my ass. It makes you lunge, jump, and swing your arms around like crazy. I'm drinking more water than ever trying to keep hydrated too.
If pretending to swing around a lightsaber isn't your thing, they have a couple of fitness games. I just ordered Your Shape Fitness 2012.

I agree that exercise is important, but the OP is not interested. I think 15 minutes a day of something would help a great deal though.
Another tip is to not drink your calories! Switch to water if you are not already doing that.

It is easier not to eat the calories than it is to burn them off.

It is easier not to eat the calories than it is to burn them off. While I agree with this somewhat, My body is not one that is "traditional". I am like Jennifer Lopez - I got a big but/hips. I always valued sit-ups in my routine, but a few years ago I started with a class that does a lot of squats and I find that pants fit me much better than they did before b/c it shaved down where I am most "hippy". Since Lena is dealing with trying to get her body back into shape after it has been stretched 10 ways to Sunday, I think not pointing out that the time spent exercising will most likely be well worth it is a disservice to her. I have always gotten pretty good support from DH regarding exercising. My MIL has also kept the kids a little later so I could sneak in a class here and there. I have done everything from exercising in a company gym, taking classes at work, taking classes at a local gym and taking parks and rec classes at the local HS. Parks and rec seems to offer more late night classes. I have taken cl assess at 5:30 am and 8 pm. Whatever I could make work with our family schedule. I intend to look for a later eve Parks and Rec Class b/c I can't always make it to my 6:30 pm class at my local gym. Once I lose the weight, I can maintain pretty well by watching what I eat and behaving pretty good as long as I exercise 3x a week.

I exercised at home for over 30 years.
The past 3 have been at a gym and at home. I have done some classes, too. Everyone has to find their own self-discipline. Fitness being just one area.
