She does seem to be a "do as I say, not as I do" person in that regard! It doesn't matter how large your organic garden is, if you're not working it you don't get all the benefits!

While I'm not a huge fan of her face, Michelle Obama has a rocking body....

She is no lightweight. Why doesn't she try moving 60 min a day and worry about her own BMI and not stuffing cheeseburgers down her gullet before worrying about us. I don't follow what she's been doing, however, does she need to be stick thin to be concerned about the growing obesity in America?

< note to self - J likes pear shapes & brown bags! > Has she been putting on weight? I haven't really paid attention whenever they're on tv.

YES! It must be all the "vacation" eating... Then let me clarify -- she had a rocking body. She may or may not have a rocking body anymore. That would require me actually looking.

JFC, are you kidding me?! If she's overweight, then I'm morbidly obese! And since when is it such a crime to be concerned about childhood obesity?

Is she supposed to be a stick person? And what is wrong with her occasionally having a cheeseburger? An occasional cheeseburger doesn't make a person obese. I think she is doing a good job trying to educate people about proper nutrition. That doesn't mean she ALWAYS has to eat healthy. Everyone should be allowed to have an a treat every once in awhile.

I'm actually not concerned about her weight per se. I just think everyone should practice what they preach.
And being officially "morbidly obese" isn't necessarily as large as one would think...
BMI = lb * 703 / in2 where lb is the subject's weight in pounds and in is the subject's height in inches.
Any BMI ¡Ý 35 or 40 is severe obesity A BMI of ¡Ý 35 or 40¨C44.9 or 49.9 is morbid obesity A BMI of ¡Ý 45 or 50 is super obese
ETA : the inches should be squared - it didn't translate exactly when I copied.

Maybe it's just a bad picture. And for the record, I'm not saying that she shouldn't be able to speak out against childhood obesity or that she needs to be thinner or anything that might remotely agree with Snerdley's post. All my comments involve whether or not I think she has a rocking body.....

I'll go with slightly after 4PM today and because Snerdley is bored and wants to start internet controversy. In case she cares, there's a whole board P&M, that lives for that kind of stuff.

Yabbut, all her inane crud ends up being shipped here. It is just so silly that education about childhood obesity is all of a sudden a bad thing. Of course, Michelle Obama's platform could be kittens and rainbows and people would call her a heathen.

Here are the rest of the calculations if anyone's interested...
BMI Classification < 18.5 underweight 18.5 - 24.9 normal weight 25.0 - 29.9 overweight 30.0 - 34.9 class I obesity 35.0 - 39.9 class II obesity > 40.0 class III obesity
BMI is calculated by dividing the subject's mass by the square of his or her height, typically expressed either in metric or US "customary" units:
Metric: BMI = kilograms / meters2 US customary and imperial: BMI = lb * 703 / in2 where lb is the subject's weight in pounds and in is the subject's height in inches.

Ok, so what is she not practicing Rose?
I also do not think that BMI is a proper measurement of obesity. When I was 130 I was considered at the top of the BMI and just another pound or 2 would have made me obese. If you eve saw me (even at 130) there is no way you would call me obese.

I agree that the BMI scale is not the best measure! That's why I said earlier that "morbidly obese" (by BMI standards) isn't as large as you would initially think. For probably the first time in my life I'm considered "normal weight" and I look skinny. I'm not calling anyone obese or morbidly obese, I was just responding the the initial post regarding BMI and posted the scale and how it's calculated.

By the BMI scale, I was obese a few years ago; I'm just "overweight" now, and while I know I'm not in perfect shape, I also know I'm not as unhealthy as that chart would imply. I just try to be the best me I can be, and try not to pay too much attention to the latest "scientific" fads and diets, or to how other people look or what they think.

That picture is depicting two entirely different body types. No matter how thin Michelle's gets, her hips will not magically become as thin as the other two women. And if you put a size 8 (still very slender) next to two size zeros the same effect would happen. The size 8 would look much larger than she is.
