A great man , a great American was buried yesterday and I wanted to put this up in his memory as I feel his service to America should be remembered. Sergeant Shriver was a Kennedy Democrat, whose life and service transgressed politics . He put into action those words of the late President : "Ask not what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country" by being the founder of the" Peace Core" a organization that both political sides of the country supported and took part in and in his founding with his wife Eunice of the "Special Olympics " where off spring of both parties find honor and fulfillment where before they were shuttled away and little mention made of them. Now they are honored as participating members of our society and the stigma of shame and distaste is gone forever. There were so many other positive things he was involved with and because of this I wanted to post this thread to remind those who post and read here of his life and his achievements and wish him peace and a thank you for his service to our nation and it's people. For those to young to really remember the man and his accomplishment, just are familier with his name but not know the man, and for those who do but might be hazy on his accomplishments , you might want to click on the link, it's a quick read, not a Deziloooooo or Lakhota blurb , I promise you, and learn if you don't know or be reminded if your memory is hazy. A bit of a change of pace from the Roe/Wade confrontation, something a bit more positive. The man's accomplishments are worthy of knowing about and remembering, hopefully soon we will have others who come forth and do for our nation what this man did in his life. Lord knows we need it, now more then ever. www.sargentshriver.org/his-story

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

He really did seem a good guy, didn't he? My husband and I were fortunate to meet him once. Only "Nice to meet you"s were exchanged; however, he did leave the impression of a sincere and genuine person. My condolences to his family and friends.

Not many Kennedy's left. Between old age, drug/alcohol abuse and their Darwin-award winning performances, the entire family will be wiped out soon...
