Hi all! I am looking at renewing my Money magazine subscription, and I am wondering if there is a good place to get this done, or just simply purchase a new subscription. They sent me the renewal notice, and I am not happy because: (1) they now want $22.50 for a year, it used to be $10. (2) they will now automatically renew the subscription if I pay by CC, there seems to be no way around that. I will not do the automatic renewal thing, but want to pay by CC.
Any ideas? This seems like something where steep discounts should be possible.
Thanks everybody!

Buy the magazine from the news stand. Fill out the introductory offer card and send it back. Let 'em bill you. Intros are always way cheaper than the regular subscription price.

Try doing nothing for 3 or 4 months - they will start sending discounted renewal offers to win you back. And then grab it for multiyears to lock in.

I look at tanga, swaggrabber, living social, groupon and amazon. They have some pretty amazing magazine deals if you wait for them. I recently ordered Parents for a year for $1, Weight Watchers for $2, and two Martha Stewart Magazines for $5 apiece. I've get National Geographic through Amazon for $15.

I guess I can get a couple issues at the newsstand, and see what happens. This way, I can also check out missrigby's idea and see how much they want doing it that way.

Check your renewal date. My magazines start trying to get me to renew 1 year into a 2 year subscription. The offers do get better as it gets closer to the end.
On the other hand, my husband's WSJ came up for renewal. It was astronomical. I found an educator discount that was phenomenal. I now have a subscription instead.

I've gotten several through Tanga. I have gotten all of my recent subscriptions for just a few dollars. Amazing I used to spend $20 on a magazine subscription! I did just pay $15 for All You, but it was to benefit my local ASPCA.

Both a coworker's GS troop and my niece's class did fundraisers for magazines. The prices were quite good (I believe Money was 2 years for $24) and half of the subscription price went to the sponsor.

This is currently the frustration that I am dealing with, stopping one of my subscriptions that they set on automatic renewal, next subscription I do I will probably pay by check or something, or like one of the posters said-use the into rate card in the magazine and the "bill me" option-but I will ensure either it is a one time charge or I pay by check

There used to be some on-line magazine companies that offered inexpensive rates, you could google them.
The last time I used one however (after good experience I should add) my magazine subscription took a long time to show up and when it did, it was good for only one year instead of the two I had paid for. Numerous emails failed to fix the problem so I disputed the charge with my credit card company.

You'll soon see that Money recycles the same stories over and over and you'll lose interest anyway. It's just like the parenting magazines.

I just like reading in the bathtub, and a book is not an option for obvious reasons. The Money Magazine (if at $10 per year or below) comes in handy for that. ;D

I get subscriptions off Amazon -- I just wait until they have a good sale.
If you get/have an ereader, you can use that in the tub -- just stick it in a ziplock bag

Trade mags with a friend. Erewards surveys have magazines. I don't know how much Money is. They changed the deal on Outside to digital. I could have renewed mid-summer for $5.

Oh I hear that. I do the Coke Rewards and get free magazines for bathtub reading. I was going to post about Coke rewards also. There are a ton of magazines available for a low amount of points. 3 points for every code you put in for 16 oz. and 2 litre bottles and 10 points for each 12 pack. They add up fast. There are also tons of other prizes/gifts you can get. I've got over 1700 points still available. Go to mycokerewards dot com to get started. Have your co-workers, friends and relatives save the caps and cardboard from 12 packs with the code you need to insert. I save them up and my 8 year old grandson loves to read me the codes and I type them in.
