Santa Ana,or California for that matter, is not exactly a bastion of conservertive values.....to call graffitti terrorism is pushing the local governments power.

If I say to you that some politician had proposed that someone with a particularly offensive opinion- even almost universally offensive- should have their free speech rights restricted because what they had to say was "Hate Speech" then ask you to pick:
a) A Democrat said it
b) A Republican said it
c) An Independent said it
You would have to pick Democrat. And that is why the poster likely said it was Democrats run wild. Democrats cards are on the table. They clearly have a pre-scripted plan to restrict speech in the name of safety and security. Even after it's clear to 78% of the American people that Loughner wasn't motivated by anything but his own madness- they are holding on to their talking points like pit bulls.

So a local police official from a city or state that is more liberal calling graffitti a terrorist threat is proof of "dems gone crazy" because it is pushing for "local governments power" and/or because people who identify as Democrats are more likely to be the ones who are thinking there should be laws against what they call "Hate Speech"?

Threatening to kill someone in office is illegal pretty much everywhere in the US, I thought?

<<< Threatening to kill someone in office is illegal pretty much everywhere in the US, I thought? >>> ...threatening to kill would be illegal... calling for their death is not... oh, well... free speech... ETA: I'm sure an attorney can weigh in on this one...

As much as I dislike Gov. Moonbeam, I have utterly no doubt I would dislike Gov. Newsom even more. {shudder}

Umm... I think they're saying this is a death threat because it's saying he only has so many days left to live. *shrug* And I know calling for death isn't illegal because Glen Beck does it all the time

...tough, I'm thinking no one here is advocating graffiti... simply discussing the legality of its content rather than its presence...

Umm.. yah.. though it would be an odd turn of events for republicans to call graffiti protected free speech Anyway... I'm also not advocating for hate speech to be restricted. I think it's morally reprehensible, but it is your (their) right to spew garbage. However, I think, according to law, that they're considering this (a countdown until someone's death) a death threat because it is intimating that someone will try to kill him on such and such a day. It's also highly amusing that even Nazis can't get their symbolism correct!

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used by many different cultures throughout history. Different groups have used the symbol with the arms pointing in different directions.

Graffiti may not be a terrorist thing but it does in some cases in large cities with a multiple gang society cause gang wars over turf. Some actually are quite attractive and a good artistic bent but they also cause trouble. I have wondered how society could get some of the graffiti creators in an art class they show quite a talent.
