Do any of you play in adult sports leagues like softball, volleyball or basketball? We have no leagues here other than bowling. I would love to play in a softball or volleyball league.

We were just discussing adult leagues this weekend. I don't play in any because I suck. I did play on a volleyball league for a few years - we lost just about every game - but the beer was cold.
I think adults have problems keeping teams focused because it is hard to keep dedication without a fair number of very, very competitive people. You have to find the right mix and the right level of competition. It can be tough.

I liked the bowling league but i am really a lousy bowler. I played in a pick up league at the Y with some ladies and we played basketball. There were about 8 of us and we would meet every Sat morning to play. I ended up breaking my finger on a pass and had to quit for awhile and then a couple of the other ladies are pregnant so there isn't anyone who wants to play now. I know lots of women play sports in HS and then you never get to play again so that is kind of a bummer.

I play in a "beach" volleyball bar league and a women's ice hockey league, both at recreational levels. there's actually a company in Boston that has leagues in many sports at varying competitiveness levels - Boston Ski & Sports Club. I've played soccer and softball with them, but not in a few years now since I moved away from the city.

I play softball through the summer. It's a men's beer league. We have a great time. It's competitive, but not kill yourself competitive. More about playing ball, drinking a couple of cold ones and having fun. |

my area have sports that companies play each other in softball, and golf.
not sure if there are other sports they play.
