Hi everyone, I love my CVS store and have used coupons to buy a lot of things. Often I don't get the great OOP's that some of the ladies on the Grocery Challenge get, but here is my question. I have a decent stockpile - don't need laundry soap, dish soap, body soap, toothpaste, or paper towels. I probably have about a 6 month supply or more of those items. But others may not so any scenario is welcome. What I do have is a $3.00 EB and I have saved coupons since (I think) May of last year. Any suggestions for using these for the maximum value and least OOP? I am also hoping to start a thread just for CVS. It is the only store I really coupon at and I am just overwhelmed by the Grocery Challenge Thread (I know - a little self serving but I am also hoping to help others that just want to dip their toes into the couponing pool) LOL. Anyone want to join me? Newbie tips and strategies are greatly appreciated

You could try Iheartcvs.com or southernsavers.com and click on the CVS tab. They will list all the current sale items and any coupons that might match up to them. Have fun shopping!

Hotcouponworld.com has a board just for CVS deals. They usually have a different thread for each week listing the best deals and where to get the coupons and whether you can even make something into a moneymaker. You can also preview the ads there because they usually have them a couple of weeks in advance. They have the same thing for most of the major drug and grocery chains in the country, too. Good Luck!

Anyone want to join me? Newbie tips and strategies are greatly appreciated suzwantstobefree: If you check out myfrugaladventures and/or centsableshoppin, I think both of them have a section every week that helps you roll EBs with little OOP. Also our own frugalsuz (frugalsuz.blogspot.com) lists all the best deals for the upcoming sales (usually by Wednesday) and she always posts for CVS. In addition, could you PLEASE tell us why the Grocery Challenge thread is overwhelming? We have heard that before and absolutely do not want it to be that way. If CVS is your major couponing store, I would suggest just skimming the posts for anything CVS and ignoring the rest. If you have a question that gets buried because the board is moving too fast, repost in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS. There will be some days when a particular deal will consume most of the posts (like the TP at RA this week), but usually it is when the deal is AWESOME and everyone wants to do it. Once the deal or issues with the deal have passed, the board goes back to "normal". Anyway, I encourage you to come back and give it another try. There are a TON of gals who shop regularly at CVS and know how to get the biggest bang for your buck there.

Oh and as for your $3EB. Did you buy the Chestal yet this week? $5.00 Chestal Cough Syrup - 3.00 EB (that you are holding) - 1.00 Peelie found on most cartons in the store 1.00 OOP --> $5EB Hope that helps.

Suzi I am sorry that you are feeling "overwhelmed". I too shop at CVS and sometimes WAGS and love the Grocery Challenge. Sometimes it gets a little crazy with a super deal just like Dancin said, but by skimming post you can keep up with the deals for CVS without reading each post.
I like to visit CVS forum on hotcouponworld.com for clearance items, unadvertised deals and news. I heart cvs is great for coupon matchups and ad previews. Simply CVS is good for that also and showing you deals that you can follow. She also has linkups to the $5 CVS challenge every week.
Don't get discouraged, start small and think big because the reward are great. If they are ever out of anything get rainchecks because that never expire and you can choose to use them when you can get the best deal with them.

Dancin' - I just get overwhelmed because of the number of posts! I can keep up with my WIRR but when I see that it is another 10 pages of postings and I am already 10 behind I just give up! I learned so much in the beginning and I was thrilled when it basically "started over" here, thinking I could keep up. A lot of you are so much better at the deals then I would ever be and I just don't think I will ever need to stockpile the way that some do. However, I do like the advice that I have gotten so I was thinking maybe something for the individual store that I like may interest others too. Thank you all for the suggestions. Tomorrow I am going to spend sometime deciding what to do on the various websites you all suggested.

I think they are going to do Grocery per month now... so it isn't quite so long... plus, most of the deals expire, so if i get behind, i've started just hitting the last page or two...

I have to admit, I felt the same way with the amount of posts. But, after MSN's format, which didn't add headers, it looks like way too much. Like Dancinmomma said, skim and take in what you need/want to. Otherwise let it go. The Grocery Challenge is a WONDERFUL message board, and it can save you an awful lot of dollars.

I feel the same way. The reason why we have so many pages is that people like to post and we are an active kind of thread, LOL.
I understand what you mean, so starting with the first of every month, Dancinmama will start the thread over again. This way, you don' t have to shift through 500 pages.
We hope that you will continue to enjoy are thread and understand more about saving every day. Before you know it, you will be telling us about the deals!
I think that that will help.

If you are 10 pages behind, don't skim so far back! I just skim back about 2 or 3 pages at the most.
Why? Because the information is current, and I want the "latest" news about the savings at each of my favorite stores.

The only reason why I try to read everything is so that I don't miss newbie posts or questions. My DH has said for YEARS (before couponing became so popular) that I should have written a book. Well, I didn't (wouldn't want the notoriety anyway), but I do enjoy helping as much as I can.

The print at the end of your receipt. You have the save the receipt and then use the coupon printed there the next time you buy something.

"After Extra Bucks" is the price you pay after taking into account that you will get the extra bucks. You'll buy the Coke, pay $15, and THEN you will get $5 in Extra Bucks at the bottom of your receipt. You can than take those Extra Bucks and buy almost anything else in the store with them (with some exclusions: no stamps, booze, gift cards, tobacco products, etc.). HTH

No... you will get them with this purchase, with the purchase of the coke.
I got pepsi last week, so i have a 10$ EB at the bottom of my receipt. I'll go in and get the coke, which costs 15$, but i'll give them my 10$ EB from last week, and 5$, And they'll give me the coke i bought, plus a new EB on my receipt for 5$... and next week i'll use that for something else.
for instance...

This has been helpful. I really do "lurk" on GC but seldom post. Hopefully some people will get some help from this thread as well. Good idea starting over every month.
Good ideas ladies - thanks!

Buy 5 @ $15 then get the coupon? To get them at $10.00? Just give me the sale. I tend to forget I have coupons.. I don't even buy a newspaper anymore because I forget the coupons....

Well, by giving EBs AFTER your purchase, they get you to come back to the store to spend them. So ya, I go back and usually try to spend them on more stuff that is giving EBs and just keep recycling THEIR EBs to get things that my family will use for FREE or close to it. Yep, that's why my sister doesn't use coupons either. She says she'll take them with her and then forget to use them when she checks out. When you become a couponer though, it's all about the the coupons and the products that you can "purchase" for free so you tend not to forget.

LOL LOL....So, I could buy the 5 for $15 sodas get my coupon EB bucks then go back and buy the Extra Detergent and almost get it for free?

So excited. I loved CVS when I lived in California. Then I moved back to MN and the only thing we have in this city is 3 Walgreens. But finally! There are two CVS stores scheduled to open in our town in the next week or two In fact the one is less than a mile from my house. Which is so nice when we have to run out and grab a last minute thing. Much better than the 10 to 15 minute drive to the store.

And I read that there is a $1/1 internet printable coupon out for the Extra detergent which would make it $.49/bottle. USUALLY these coupons are two prints per computer. If you have two computers, you could print (4). So you'd buy (4) for less than $2 and still have $3 more out of your $5 EB to spend on something else!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE CVS! Don't know how they manage to keep the prices so low. Actually, I think that their "regular" prices are pretty high compared to WAGs; but their sale prices seem to be better. Swiffer Wet Jet refill pads at WAGs were $6.49 (regular price); the exact same product was $8.29 at CVS. Sale price at WAGs was $5.29 (25% off), but at CVS it was $3.99. I have had a CVS for less than two years and have been able to get so many products there for free after sale, coupon, and store rewards.
