I have officially been reffered to a Pain Management Doc. I am incredibly distraught that it has come to this. I just want to be able to do things that others do.
I guess I have to come to terms with my pain, embrace the pain....LOL

Pain Management doctors do more than prescribe pills. Hopefully you will benefit from some of the other therapies they utilize.

My neurologist is also a pain management specialist. I don't go to his office for pain issues, but he works in tandem with a physical therapist, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a sports medicine specialist and an orthopedic doc. It's a team approach that a lot of locals seem to like. It's not always about meds, and MU is right about this: long-term pain is your body really saying "Hey, I need HELP here!"

MU thanks for the stories. The neurosurgeon has referred me, I am scared as pain management places (not the legit ones, the pill mills) are going down fast. This facility seems to have all the Nancy posted so we'll see.

Why "won't you be able to do what others do"? If you just had surgery a few weeks ago, the healing process takes a long time. And, with proper treatment and proper pain management, what is it you won't be able to do?

The first surgery was in June the second in Dec and I had a different surgery in Oct, that one freaking hurt. The back surgeries were no problem, up and around quickly. I don't know what it is but the neurosurgeon treats you for 3 months and hopefully it no longer hurts. This is an issue that has been going on for years, but just inch by inch started affecting me, then affected me working and now is affecting my quality of life. Sometimes things creep up on you and I also thought I was just getting older and experiencing the usual aches and pains. To see people for example walking around Disney (which I used to do but wouldn't face it now) or just as simple as grocery shopping (that puts me in even more pain for days following) I feel like there is something wrong. It could be as simple as arthritis, then at least I know and we can get on a management plan. Having a CT scan on Tuesday.
