I have an opportunity to go to the Orkney Islands. Any one ever been? We'll be going mid May, flying from Duesseldorf into Edinburgh and then driving up to take the ferry to Kirkwall. 4.5 day trip. This trip is morphing out of a boy's Single Malt Distillery tour to include the spouses. I will take one tour but I don't want to spend my whole time drinking or being the DD.  I'm a hiker and love history. I'm just starting the research process and will be reviewing Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet's Great Britan Guide. But I would enjoy recommendations from my trusty Posse.
