About that "buried alive phobia"... I had a friend in HS (still see him around town on occasion) who's mom died at home our Junior or Senior year. She was declared dead and made it all the way to the morgue table when she "woke up" She didn't stay alive much longer, just long enough that she was able to say goodbye to her kids and husband--the only one that had been at the house when she died was my friend's girlfriend (she was another friend). She'd been sick for a while so they knew it was coming, but man, it was pretty crazy! (and no, not an urban legend)

The VA has walls cremation remains. So you can still be at a cemetery without being buried. I assume all cemeteries have those now but I don't know.

I love hanging out at cemeteries I find them so peaceful especially in the city. It's a quiet place where you can sit by a grave, read a book, watch people, and bask in the rays of the sun and think about mortality. How about you? As long as I am able to leave them when I want to.

I've come across several Civil War veterans buried in the local cemetary and according to a news story I recently saw, there are about 200 that they know of.

I think IHOP needs to hang out at my FB page more often. I love cementaries! Mainly because each tombstone represents a person with its unique history and life. They mattered to someone, I hope. Or someone is glad they are gone, lol. My favorite would be a cementary in the winter time. It looks so peacefull with all that snow.
