Arch
Single stocks is ALL i buy as far as the market goes
I have a bond fund....and physical silver....but all my stocks are individual holdings
I do MUCH better than the mutual funds i used to own...but all i do is buy and hold and reap the benefits on the dividends

I am not knowledgeable to be buying individual stocks and I knew that before I bought it. But I let emotion take over.
It does have a decent dividend, but the price has done nothing but go down.

Doesnt matter on the price until you sell it...
Here is ALL i do
Is the reason you liked the company in the first place...the same now, or has something changed? If the same...then i would probably hold the equity...if different...why?
Has the difference materially affected the VALUE of the equity...if yes, SELL! If no, then i say hold and maybe even buy more to dollar cost average down.
Fairly simple formula for owning equities...but it is working....at least for me

The reason I liked the stock was that it was my bank and they offered the IPO to its customers and I thought that was cool.
I probably would have sold it already, but I have the physical stock and I haven't learned how to get into a brokerage account to sell it.

Just call your broker and they will walk you through the steps to sell it. As long as you are holding it and it is not doing what you expected or want you are losing the opportunity to put that money to better use in some other stock or fund. You are losing more than what you have lost on the share price of that stock. You are also losing the potential gain and potential opportunity that you would have if that money was available to put into some other investment. I need to get a broker. Would I be able to set up a brokerage account, sell it and then close the account?

Good advice wxyz. Owning shares of stock that I couldn't sell quickly if need be would scare the hell out of me.
