Almost postive it is. happy cars don't make noises like that. Especially not noises I could hear inside the house, door closed, halfway across the house. Loud and clear too. Any warnings on what kind of used car NOT to buy?

Tell me what kind of car you have and the noises it makes Oh, and stay away from Chevys, GMs Dodge and Foreign Hmmm - no GM's, Dodges (and I assume Chryslers and Jeeps), or foreign. That pretty much leaves Ford. Can you tell that Rick is a Ford guy? For a little more objective evaluation of poor choices in used cars, check out the Consumer Reports annual auto issue.

I need a CHEAP used car, does Consumer Reports cover that? It's dumping oil Rick and I mean dumping. 4 qts in it in the morning and barely touching the dipstick that night when he got home. Work is a 2 mile trip. I really can't tell you about the noise other than clanking/clunking kind of sound. DH said he also thought there was a squeaking like a belt was angry too, but I wasn't close enough to hear that. It's a 1990 Cressida. He's eyeballing a 94 Camaro. Just what he needs with 3 kids to haul around right?

I hear Bentleys are nice - but might be out of your price range.

Just a smidge. I'll keep that in mind for when I win the lottery though

Yeah, the ground. DH says it's coming out around the distributor cap, there's been a slow leak around the rear (I think) seal for a while now but not like this. As far as I know, it ran fine up until 3 days ago when the leak got worse then it got epic so now it's sitting still in my yard and DH is driving a van that belongs to my parents. It has electrical issues but it runs

CL, I have had good luck w/ Fords, I have heard Toyota has had a sludge problem w/ the 6 cylinder engine. IMO try to buy a used car from someone you know who has performed regular maintenance

Rick, I only use the word epic properly Jake, that's my preference too, if only I could find someone that wants rid of a car. The Camaro DH is eyeballing belongs to his sister's BF, I have no interest in buying anything from anyone associated with his family. It'll be run to crap and never maintained.

Oil coming out of distributor cap? How is that possible - it's an electrical assembly with wires going to the spark plugs.
Leaking buckets of oil might mean that the oil plug needs a new gasket, or that the whole head gasket is shot -- two totally different fixes, one easy, one not. Have you had someone engine-savvy look at it?

I know I have to get on board with current technology myself - but makes no since to me plus what I was just told by my Ford Dealership agent - makes NOOO since to me LOL - I was looking at him like a......Grimm (well that makes since if you watch the show Grimm)
