I made over 8% in my portfolio for last year - only individual dividend stocks in an IRA.

1.5% return in my current ER 401(k). I have about 80% of that money effectively in a MM account waiting for the next large move down in the markets. Perhaps worth noting that when I look at that 401(k) I only look at my contributions and include the portion the company pays in via match as 'return'. This account is doing much better than the IRA below when looked at that way.
19.56% return on my previous ERs 401(k)s that I rolled into an IRA in 2010 and invested in 13 different dividend paying stocks.

Lost money in mine, and it is ridiculous. There are monthly maintence charges against the funds, by AXA Equitable, and it eats everything. Works out to a 7% yearly fee. And they have the gaul to call it a no-load.......because it does not come out of the actual deduction. I cannot wait to retire and move it somewhere safe away from the charges.

That sounds like a really horrible 401k plan.

I had that kind of trouble with Fidelity, several years ago and it was an absolute nightmare to get my own money out of there.....
Good luck!

My money is just sitting there. I have only what I have put in. No gains.
