DH's car (91 Pontiac Grand Prix STE) just gave up the ghost and he's thinking he'd like to get a truck for work, but we don't know what to look for.
We're looking for a small to mid size truck with an extended cab since we carry 1 or 2 grandkids around from time to time and are looking to spend about $15 - $18K. Can you recommend one to us?
Thanks!

Would you recommend a foreign one then? He's also looking at SUV's and other types, but would like a truck to carry tools, etc. for work.
What would you recommend that has enough back end space for his tools, is wide enough for both of us, and can carry the grandkids when needed?

I love my Nissan Frontier (2009, SE, Long Bed, Crew Cab, 2WD). I average 21 mpg in mixed driving. The crew cab has plenty of space - I have 2 car seats in it! More than enough power in the V6 (261 hp/266 tq). And you can easily find a lightly used one in your price range.
