Only IF XOM would get on the Band Wagon in this Country, LNG would really take off. XOM, where are YOU?

I personally like Suncor (SU). EPS 2.99 P/E 9.69. They have been growing their dividend and they are awash in product and cash. It's a long term play for me. Canadian oil is going to be huge in 10 yrs.
Suncor Energy Inc. (Suncor) is an integrated energy company. The Company explores for, acquires, develops, produces and markets crude oil and natural gas in Canada and internationally, and it transports and refines crude oil and market petroleum and petrochemical products primarily in Canada. It is focused on developing petroleum resource basins, which includes Canada's Athabasca oil sands. The Company also markets third-party petroleum products. It also carries on energy trading activities focused principally on marketing and trading of crude oil, natural gas, refined products and byproducts, and the use of financial derivatives
Of course there is always XOM.. Most likely the safest when it comes right down to it. As far as I'm concerned it's the biggest company on the planet. They keep growing their dividend, and at $81 a share, it's still selling at 9.81 P/E and a 8.28 EPS!
Hope that helps Artemis.

3044Artemis, if you don't mind a little risk and you think that LNG is the future in the Trucking and personal car transportation then I would look at WPRT. www.westport.com/But right now, I would pull a Obama and wait to buy anything until after the Election. LOL If you are the Little guy. JMO AHB has 2 good picks.

SU at $27 was a nice DCA for my kids RESP.. ;D A++, We have seen a huge conversion with Methane use to crack heavy oil to make what is know as middle distillates.. You start with the expatiation of 30% to make more diesel for export and internal use. That is a lot of methane to do that with more going into production of H2. THE USA is now the worlds leader in export diesel and Jet Fuel!! Just a thought, BiMetalAuPt

, You mean like where this conversation started over a year ago about LNG? That sucks doe. Mismanagement is the worst. I want to bring this question here from a different thread.. So what is this LNG plant going to do? They claim it is changing the game in NAT GAS shipping. When I was a child you could see flairs in all directions from Odessa,TX.. Just burned the natural Gas with no use.. Later they used a little in "one lung Poppers" to power the pump jacks before Texas Utility started the largest Power Plant I had seen ( at the time) to burn NG.. It was almost Free power. Now Germany is going for the same cheap Methane for power to replace Nuclear power. Shell has a plant to produce very high quality Synthetic Diesel from Methane. Dow Chemical makes Methyl Chloride from NG and Bruce makes a lot of FIAT MONEY FROM THE WEST TEXAS DEEP GAS.. Did I say they are also making a lot of money from the next generation FRACK jobs. MY POINT IS THE SA GOVERNMENT OWN OIL COMPANY WILL TRY TO REDUCE OIL PRICES TO $70 TO 80 TO PREVENT THE INCREASE IN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY.. LIKE CNG OR WIND POWER.. I BET ON SHELL ON THIS ONE ... METHANE IS ONE STEP SHORTER THEN COAL.. THAT IS THEN CONVERTED INTO METHANE (A.G.FARBER).. JUST A THOUGHT, BI Metal Au Pt Looks like RDS.A and RDS.B are safe long term plays as well. It's only been around since 1911.. Great point!..

It's been a while since there was any real news in the oil market, been collecting dividends since June when there was a great buying opportunity. There have been permits signed to ship LNG from the port in Kitimat BC and the natural gas revolution continues in the trucking and delivery industry. At this point though, there is one huge story out there and it's of course the keystone XL. Right now there is so much oil coming out of the bakken shale play in North Dakota that there is literally no room in the pipeline for Canadian oil. This has forced such a drop in Canadian oil that the once flush Alberta is running a deficit of four billion dollars. It has been a positive for the railroad companies though, as rail shipment of oil are at an all time high. Now, there are a lot of people out there that think they are doing environment a favor by opposing this pipeline. However, the reality of the situation is that the tar sands are going to grow regardless of if the keystone is built or not. As a side note, this is why personally I like SU, a lot, and the fact is that all the XL will do is help ease the backlog of current oil production, it will in fact do nothing to actually add to greenhouse gases over the long term. If Mr. Obama decides that the XL is a disaster all that is going to happen is the punishment of Alberta residents. So feel good about yourselves you far left wingers, you`re costing people a few billion dollars and doing NOTHING, I mean NOTHING in the long run to stop tar sand development. The USA is becoming an energy exporter because of Canadian oil, it`s just a matter of volume.

I posted this across the street, but thought it's pertinent here also .... Japan first to extract gas from "methane ice"Japan has developed a method to extract methane (the highest percentage component of natural gas) from methane hydrate deposits of their coast. There's an estimated 40 trillion cubic feet of reserves available if the process proves viable. Expectation is they'll go commercial with the process by 2018. This could have a huge impact on their need to import LNG (and our development of LNG export infrastructure) in the future. However, it's not nice to play with Mother Nature and some wonder about the long term effects of playing with the hugh deposits of methane hydrate (including the Gulf) in the world's oceans.

That was a huge find Sun. I think as long as we play nice with mother nature there is unlimited energy potential on the planet. Think about how bad industry was back in the 1900's, China maybe worse now but that's only because of volume. What do you think Sun? Oil by rail called dirtier than pipeline transport. The State department came to the same conclusion that I did, that the XL will have no impact on oils sands development and the fact is more and more companies are looking to ship on the rails; for instance Crescent Point eyes oil-by-rail options in Utah.
