It's amazing how fast - like a month - the situation in Afghanistan has "changed." We have gone from there is no I.S. threat in Afghanistan to, ‘Steps required to counter threat from Afghanistan-based Islamic State’. Really? I guess those 100-to-as-much-as-200k Punjabi Mujahideen fighters that have been training in the remote regions of Pakistan really are a problem after all...

A prelude of things to come in Sept and October? ISIS has claimed responsibility for an attack on Russian military barracks Mix that with Afghanistan, Africa, the invasion of Europe that is underway, and the fact that the Saudis are literally giving the I.S. air support in Yemen.... Sure seems like a recipe for another big push is in the makings, especially when the icing on the cake is that this Sept is more "biblical" than others in the past.

As to be expected, after blocking the international community from intervening in Syria during the initial stages of the uprising, then destabilizing Eastern Europe allowing the Jihad to spread globally - Putin is now back in Syria with his army ready to make this a rel mess.

Considering that the news stories are still all essentially focused in Syria and Iraq, while the new front has moved to central asia, I think it might be time for those not understanding the gravity of this situation to start asking, is the Islamic State close to victory?

The fact that Russia Authorizes Airstrikes in Syria as China Calls for Peace Talks truly shows just how far apart Russia and China are. It's also a great precursor to a thread I plan on starting.

But first....

Just like Turkey, as soon as the Russian airstrikes started the true nature of their intentions has been made clear. The Syrian opposition reports: 36 die in Russia strikes, IS not targeted. Which means that Russia is trying to help Assad regain his momentum and power, and fighting the Islamic State will come second. It's this very underestimation that allows the Islamic State to grow, and all they have done - and will continue to do - is take advantage of the worsening situation.

I mean seriously, just think about the fact that in the last two months Turkey and Russia have both openly committed to fighting the Islamic state, and yet BOTH of them have done nothing but help the mujahideen because of their own intentions!

From there it gets even better. Not only is Russia propping up the Assad regime, they are also funneling weapons and training to Hezbollah which in turn has further empowered Iran - who just made a nuclear deal and rubbed it in the Wests face, BTW.

This of course coincides with the full on assault of Afghanistan and the opening of the Central Asian front. So while the UN squabbles over who does what in Syria, the Islamic State just grows strong and stronger because the true nature of the situation is being ignored, just like the true nature of situation in China is being ignored. Honestly, I just can't get over that ISIS Makes Gains in Syria Territory Bombed by Russia. It's like they are giving them air support!! But let me guess, the idea is now Assad will go in a "retake" this land from ISIS. Because that has work SO well so far.
