openchannel.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/09/10358155-super-pac-supporting-ron-paul-is-operated-by-a-911-truther"As with many other so-called "independent" Super PACs, which can receive unlimited donations outside the normal rules of campaign finance, the pro-Paul group is operated by people with close ties to the candidate. The group's advisory board members include Penny Langford Freeman, Paul's political director from 1998 to 2007, and Joe Becker, chief legal counsel for Ron Paul 2008. The leader of the group, its founder, chairman and treasurer, is Gary Franchi, a promoter of conspiracy theories and sophisticated social-media entrepreneur in the resurgent movement known as the Patriots." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The article goes on to detail the beliefs of Gary Franchi.... Wonderful.... While we don't really know how much (if any) of Franchi's more extreme beliefs Ron Paul supports, we do know that RP has thanked the group for their support, and that (as quoted) there are people very close to RP in operational or advisory roles. If Ron Paul really wants to be taken seriously as a candidate and "voice of reason" shouldn't he be repudiating this group? Especially considering that the amount of money raised on his behalf is relatively small? What am I missing?

People are allowed to have their opinions, that doesn't mean that they have influence on a candidate. If I went around disowning everybody that supported Obama and his connections with the Reverend, I more than likely would never get support to get anything done. This whole guilty by association is quite idiotic IMO. I am sure that you have associated with murders, cheaters, liars(known or unknown to you). Should I disown your opinions or support that you would give me if I ran as an elected official? Like you said that there amount of money raised if very little so that means little influence. If RP went around doing thorough background checks on everybody that supported him, he would not have time to get this point/ideals across.
