I remember when Madonna was first starting out, she kind of was like the Lady Gaga of her time with her shows seemingly geared toward shocking people with outrageous costumes etc. Her shows seem quaint now. I did like one song of hers "La isla bonita" (sic)? It's been said of the US music industry that the acts have to be 60% show and 40% singing ability. Now with other forms of "music" is it even singing anymore?

Let her charge $1000 for a ticket won't matter to me. I wouldn't pay $40 to see one of her concerts I'd pay $300 to see a concert with 1986 Madonna...I wouldn't pay more than a $1 for 2012 Madonna

Really? Serious question, jma. I too live in a state with a strong hunting and gun culture (MA blames Maine and NH for their gun crime problems). Many of us own guns. Yet we have a big problem (well, for Maine, our crime rate is still comparatively very low) with home robberies right now. Many of them happen during the day, often at homes with no immediate neighbours. Most if it is driven by kids needing drugs, sadly. For the same reason pharmacies are being robbed, at gunpoint, all the time. You are not experiencing that were you live? Dem, it's like you're describing where I live. It's a rural area, strong hunting culture, lots of guns, and the pill heads are robbing everyone blind. However, they're usually smart enough to do it when businesses are closed or nobody is home. They don't want to get shot, they don't want to hurt anyone, they just want their fix.

Yep, nobody home. That's why they are daytime robberies. Occasionally they do try to break in when the homeowner is there. Then it can get scary fast for one party or the other. From what I've heard, the problem is/ was worse in the rural south, but I think that is not as true as it used to be as the pernicious use of these drugs spreads. I've also heard it's worse in the rural south, but I can't imagine how bad it would be. This area has had several murders in the past few years related to the drug trade, and we used to average about 1 murder every 5 to 7 years. We've also got a huge increase in gun crimes.

I have to preface this by saying I zoned most of this thread, but my attention was caught by those who insist a bank is necessary. They are most assuredly not necessary. I don't know people's backgrounds on here, but I frequently deal with the "underground" economy. There are an estimated 12-20 million illegal immigrants and uncounted legal immigrants who thrive in this country without ever entering a bank. You can buy a car, rent an apt, buy a house, transfer millions of dollars overseas each day, etc without the services of a bank. This may not be happening in your neighborhood, but it happens in every major city in the US and in foreign countries. Just because YOU can't do it without a bank, doesn't mean millions of other people don't. In fact, with the advent of stored value cards, pretty much anything requiring a credit card is a snap without a bank account. And you can get around those pesky reporting requirements with them, too!
