It is still a little early to applaud Boehner but if he can get Harry Reid to bring Health Care to the senate floor for debate then I will applaud his efforts. Also not sure if John Boehner is 100% committed to Republican Congressman Paul Ryan's "Roadmap for Economic Recovery"....it might just be too daunting a task....but who knows??
Also Republican Congressional Ron Paul was on MSNBC this AM and he has several proposals that need Boehner's ok to bring up for debate....
But after Pelosi I would say Boehner is like a breath of fresh air in the halls of congress

I like Paul Ryan too. His proposal to dismantel medicare is a good one and I hope Boener has the guts to further it.

Thinking it's a little early for any clapping. I'll save mine for which ever party gets the message and reigns in some of the crazy spending. The new health insurance bill would have been a good place to save a trillion dollars but it's not even going to get a vote in the senate. It is kind of funny to see Hairless Reid in the party of no now.

The new health insurance bill ... What new health insurance bill? I know the Republican House voted to repeal the heath care reform bill that became law last year but I haven't heard anything about an actual new bill.

The bill that was forced through last year is the bill I refer to since it has not been implemented yet and the major portions of the bill that the public has been allowed to hear about relate to changes in health insurance requirements not in health care reform so not sure why you would refer to a health care reform bill.

cause he's racist. of course. The point is whether you agree or not, they are going to need to work together. They shouldn't approach each other like enemies of a foreign country. I can't say I support this particular decision...it comes across as childish. I understand there may be some anger about Obama not speaking with him privately the last couple of years, but we need to focus on the future.

imho they both need to go away.
neither cares about the people, just themselves.
when politicians "work together" more damage is done to the people. when they fight, the people don't suffer as much.

Repealing a law is not contingent on having another one to replace it. Sometimes a law is just bad and needs to be removed...

blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/01/pelosi-to-attend-white-house-state-dinner-boehner-declines-invitation-.html .... While both were invited, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, say they will not attend the dinner either.
Lawmakers in the House and Senate this week have spoke out against the Chinese president’s visit to criticize the economic superpower for its human rights record, currency manipulation, and restrictions on speech.
In an on-camera interview, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took it a step further and dubbed Chinese president Hu Jintao “a dictator.” ....
According to his spokesman, Michael Steel, Boehner has attended just one state dinner throughout his 20 years of service in the House. Boehner accepted President George W. Bush’s invitation to attend the state dinner for Queen Elizabeth in 2007.
Boehner will welcome the Chinese president to the Capitol for a closed-press meeting with bipartisan lawmakers Thursday morning. Now, what is the big deal about this?

New Idiot to me, no class, no intelligence , just another with a mouth looking for attention. Guy comes to town, holding almost three trillion of our debt, won't even break bread with him? Reminds of Bush, must run in the family, his great take "how to make friends and influence people. You and I can act as idiots, were expected to. This guy is the leader of the House of Representatives , the leader of the opposition party, supposedly one with intelligence and smarts. The smarts are up his butt. WE , ALL AMERICA are in trouble , there is a President attempting to woo and make nice to one with clout that is a very important person in possible alleviating, even temporaryaly, some of our hurt till repairs can be done. He has to work with him, the President , to solve these problems and he just told me, if I was a POTUS, I don't care about you, I don't plan on working with you , for the next two years I plan on doing nothing to help the country out, screw my constituents , it's about me , and I also declare War on you. Also along the way he told the leader of the most populous country in the world, our biggest holder of our massive debt , the most powerful as far as financially and growth right now , there is a cancer, more advanced then thought of in this nation we hold all this paper on and are competing with. In the relationship between the political in this place called America, there was this guy who cares little about airing the dirty laundry out in public, who actually gave the leader of this country the bird , in public as the world watched. When I go home, lets see what mischief we can do as their mind will be on other things. There was so little respect given to this leader I was talking to I wouldn't put it past us that we can do almost anything we want too, nothing is going to be done about it, their internal political mess, it's a shame to see but great for us. What a AH this unnamed one is, happen here...remember I told you I was interested in rebuilding the old wall, the big one, be working there , one brick at a time till the life is gone or finished, bet what happens first. "your applauding a idiot. " I suppose your characterizations apply to Harry Reid as well......... Absolutly not, Harry would be a idiot if he gave in to the school yard dare. While I have you, your agreeing with Boehner actions? Granted I used a little opolitical license in my response but as the smart guy you are , we analize other countries, the politicals , their problems in all ways thought of. You think the Chinese don't? Possible the words will be different but I will put money table that the same ideas and thoughts i suggested and so many more expressed and so many more will be there as well as the understanding of the anomosity and the loss of face , and these people make a loss of face as their #1 topic of conversation I stand by my comment, Boeher actd as a idiot, he embarressed my and your President and by so doing so embarressed my country. He acted like a bore and the bore is a leader in our government.

Mr. Muskie explained that he had become "choked up over my anger." "It changed people's minds about me," he said about the episode. "They were looking for a strong, steady man, and here I was weak." Mr. McGovern said today that he never believed that the "crying" incident "diminished him in the least." Instead, he said, "it was an indication of his humanity and his essential decency." query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A07E7DD1539F934A15750C0A960958260

I've had enough of the crying. It's embarrassing for crying out loud (pun intended). I don't cry. No man I know does. It's weird the way he cries at...... anything. If I played golf with him I would probably have to kill him. Your bad....but that was a funny line. Ok into the book of one liners from the zone. ;D

I bet the story doesn't make headlines.

Who cares if Boehner (and Reid) did not attend a social event?? He met with the guy yesterday for business. I saw his report about it on TV, and was glad he did not cry. I don't care if he cries, it is touching to me to see a politician that seems to care so deeply about his job. BUT-- knowing how some people make fun of him I always cross my fingers and start praying every time I see him on TV. He is crying less these days. I like him.

Krickett , I could care less about his emotions, even give him the benefit of the doubt, which few from the right , IMHO, ever give to any one from the left on anything. He insulted the office, his public words toward anything the President says were so out of line yet you I guess and others from the right feel are perfectly correct , no mention of, just forgotten or scrolled over, so how do you expect any from the middle to the left to take anything you and others say regarding the politics and problems and possible solutions as anything serious to the discussions. Just more of the same, all left is this and that...same old crap, with no substance to discussing the problems. He is a cancer, a small man, not oneof substance. He will do nothing to help solve our problems and expect nothing of substance to come from that him or his side but negative rhetoric for the next two years, and any improvements in solving our problems will come from Obama as best he can. Executive decision most likely.

He's a political flack in a important position and for the next two years he will do nothing to help our, your country out of its mess..nada. H has made this a personal with the President. that is fine for you. you can , in the fact of the matter you are nothing as I am either , no influence in what is happening except on message boards like this one that it seems about 40 /50 people from all over the country are taking part in. Boehner is a different story, he is in a responsible, very in fact, position, and he has influence and clout and he has thrown all that away for a dew sound bytes. this is the guy you support as your spokesman. Then I guess you want none of our problems addressed for the next two years, because with his attitude and stupid and ignorant public utterances nothing will be accomplished but more sound bytes.
