Unless you are the owner of your own business or on break (and allowed to surf the INTERNET on company computers), no one should be posting from work at all. Posting while on the clock is stealing from your employer. Let's hope people continue to post from work. I have a feeling this place would be dead if they didn't. I so agree. Some of us have a work ethic. I'm not directing these comments at this board, specifically, but at the Internet and message boards, in general. I can accept folks posting during lunch or while on break, on odd days when their workload may be light. There are those whose jobs allow for this, for various reasons. Then, there are those who post 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and none of it is job related. They complain when they have to stop posting to actually work. I view this a type of "corporate welfare." How much is this costing American business and the consumer ?

I think the issue was more due to people not wanting to click on links, just in case the webpages contained a virus of some sort. I'm with other posters, and agree with Lak on this on (I know, ) that if that is the case, they might as well lower the word count.

I never thought of the virus problem, had one so bad once had to bring it in for help. Have very good protection now but still, don't want to EVER have that again, so frusrasting plus expensive to fix plus time having to bring in for repair and being with out the zone for a few days, how does one survive. ok survive I could do , with the alternative but still.... good post political, hadn't thought about that.

I got a couple viruses on MSNBC USNEWS board, Dez, a few years ago. Several people got them, and we did not know where it was coming from, just that someone (there was speculation) was posting infected things. It was a real pain. Once had to completely erase and re-install everything on my comp, which, thankfully, a friend did for me. I didn't open links for a LONG time after that, plus I was so scared I might post a virus unintentionally, so I always posted my link, along with the entire article, so no one would have to open my links.

I think my bill for it was almost $200 krick--..I remember $69 just to check it out, then there was a cleaning, adding the new anti, permanent , very good one, there foreever and I think they gave me windows 7 so probably that was in there, plus the cleaning up , dust and stuff , what ever the hell they do, haven't a clue , but it was not a happy time for me at all, very, very upsetting. For the average person , lets face it, for so may of us, these things , computer, on line, are so important, big part of ones lives, stupid but true..{ One of the reasons I went looking for you, felt it was for you too}

I wonder how many of these new additions are geared toward the P&M board?

Personally I would rather people post the article, since I do not want to be clicking on random links.

Here's a question, why was this even an issue? I you want to read the article, you can read it without clicking on different links and avoiding any possible viruses. If you don't want to read the article, you can scroll and just skip it all together. And when did Dem become a Mod?

Last week I think and in the few interactions doing just fine, IMHO, and no , it's not a kiss ass post. I do lots of things but that is just not one I get excited about. {any thing to it though, am I missing out on something? Just asking. Krickett }

For the average person , lets face it, for so may of us, these things , computer, on line, are so important, big part of ones lives, stupid but true..{ One of the reasons I went looking for you, felt it was for you too} Hell Dezi...I built my own 'puter in 2002 and I just put it to rest last year. I am now using DS's old desktop that we bought him in 2008 and he quit using because his egg donor (the ex) gave him a laptop a couple months later for his b-day to trump my christmas gift. Anyhoo, I wanted to move the second hard drive (all my files were stored on the second drive in the old PC) from my old one to the new one and...well, they don't build them like they used to. These new(er) things don't even use the standard flat ribbon cables any more and the motherboards don't even have a place to plug one in. Ok...I figured I'd back-up all my pics and music to DVD and port it to the new PC that way. The backup estimated something like 35 DVD's to back everything up. Scratch that plan. I ended up buying an external hard drive, disconnecting the old PC, reconnecting the old PC up, installing the external drive, backing everything up to the spare drive, disconnecting everything again, reconnecting the new PC, install the external hard drive. The point of all this wasted space....Even those that (somewhat) know their way around the computer can be stumped if they don't keep up advances in hardware / software.

My problem is , I could learn a lot but I just don't have the patience. I have like three dummy books, including a dummy book for interpeting the dummy books. Need one for the Windows 7 that is installed but so far, keep letting it go.

I'm still trying to figure out why this is even an issue. And as to my earlier question, when did Dem become a mod?

This is likely an issue of copyright infringement. It has nothing to do with particular posters.

Not if the job is done well, Tenn. No worse than chatting on the phone or filing your nails. I think employers are smart enough to identify and can bad employees that are not doing their jobs correctly. For claiming to be a Human Resource person, Tennesseer never seems to have the backs of the over worked masses covered. He seems more like the overbearing, office manager that shows no mercy to his minions...... Just sayin....... If you have enough spare time to chat on the phone or file your nails you don't have enough work. Your boss isn't paying you to do those things. Isn't the employee who abuses time and the boss's money what some of you have been complaining about for years? Just sayin.
