Then maybe the number of "Characters Remaining" should be reduced from "60,000" to some lower amount?

You realize this is going to really hurt those of us that are getting paid by the word for posting don't you?

Excellent! I never could figure out why people felt they had to post entire articles here when a quick synopsis, or even just a title followed by a link, is more than sufficient.

Can we call this the "Lakhota clause"? No, we can't. This had nothing to do with Lakhota, actually. I was liking Lakhota for it after your second sentence.

Sounds good to me. I used to post whole articles for one reason-- I caught a virus twice from opening links, and lots of people were not opening links for awhile. Someone was posting viruses, and several of us got them. But, it is too much trouble anyway, so I stopped. FYI-- I got rid of Norton, installed FREE avast, and have not had a virus get through ever since. Keep your protection up to date!!

Wow. Another modification I disagree with. No one is forced to read the entire article if they do not want to. I prefer to read the whole thing if it interests me, and saves time from having to open the link, and come back here. "The Lakhota clause". I like that. Heck, I would be willing to have it named the "Value Buy clause" if Lakhota does not want it. And Deminmane, does this mean if I find a long winded article on why the Patriots folded, I can't post all of it for you?

Actually I agree with value...I am not a big one on hitting links...more skim, if of interest I read...some of Lakhotas , the medical one, just tooooo long, but over all, I have gone back , read and got a lot out of and posted in regard to it.
Unless your having a technical problem on quantity I would suggest re think.
Want to get picky , to me , all the video is a waste of my time, to much, stop and go, don't even bother, would love to know before if it is just video to comments, would just move down or away. However, I would never ask for them to be not put up here, I am sure many have no problems with the playing of the film. To ask to not have it is not fair to those who can watch them with no trouble plus not right .
You have a few , same few, complaining about Lakhotas posts. I say the complaints are ALL coming from one side, wanting to cut one side out, I can't remember one complaint from the other side in regard to articles posted from the other side, not at all, they are either read or scrolled by. If I see such a complaint, friendly to me i would call them out. Ask to let alone. Reason we are here is to have fun and to have dialog.
Honestly , so many of those from the other side are basically on the level of "Obama suck because I say so " so are worth scrolling by, however a occasionally we get a "Obama sucks because if the following reasons ..then goes on to tell those reasons, those I usually read. I would suggest for those from that side who post , look for articles more on the second level explained, they would get abettor play. Most of Lakhotas articles are that way. Don't care for the message , just google and articulate back.
I really like a better explanation why have to be limited. To ask if really to long..use ones head and be smart. no one is going to read novels here to posters is the way to go for me.{Lakhota, use your head}

I also like the article posted....if it can be done in one post anyway. I usually post from work and I can't always get to a linked article.
Damned web blockers.......

Good point, Yank. Lots of people post from work. I'm starting to agree with you guys. I wonder, Dem, if we could open this up for a vote?

Unless you are the owner of your own business or on break (and allowed to surf the internet on company computers), no one should be posting from work at all. Posting while on the clock is stealing from your employer.

Not if the job is done well, Tenn. No worse than chatting on the phone or filing your nails. I think employers are smart enough to identify and can bad employees that are not doing their jobs correctly.

I think employers are smart enough to identify and can bad employees that are not doing their jobs correctly. If you have enough spare time to chat on the phone or file your nails you don't have enough work. Your boss isn't paying you to do those things. Isn't the employee who abuses time and the boss's money what some of you have been complaining about for years? Just sayin.

Look, I agree with you. I've done it until I was blue in the face. The management that is in place here refuses to budge. One project in particular that I was pushing for six years ago and management would not even entertain my proposals, was finally addressed by someone else. IT has been stalled for three years and is in complete disarray and chaos, with nothing to show. This place has many issues. Way too many to even broach here. I have a solid ten year track record of producing deliverables, providing results, and saving the company millions in processing and development costs. This is a company that has the bulk of the staff, both IT and business that has been around for 15, 20 and 25 years. People are set in their ways, very intellectually lazy and very stubborn.

Some of us have a work ethic. I'm not directing these comments at this board, specifically, but at the Internet and message boards, in general. I can accept folks posting during lunch or while on break, on odd days when their workload may be light. There are those whose jobs allow for this, for various reasons. Then, there are those who post 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and none of it is job related. They complain when they have to stop posting to actually work. They complain because the company they work for has limited their access to the net! I view this an a type of "corporate welfare." How much is this costing American business and the consumer ?

I'm a liberal conservative. The conservative in me says it is not MY business to try to suggest how people run their own businesses. Let the business owners decide that. I know at the cab company the girls in the office can't do anything except cab company business on their comps. They are locked out opf things. Plus, there are video/audio cams all over the offices. I think businesses are capable of managing their own employees.

You are being paid to do a job, not "borrow" company resources for your personal entertainment.

Picky, picky ... think you think thats why were in such trouble against the Chinese, they are forced to stay at their benches and we too but when look around , no one looking... Actually being a bit older, and never had worked at a desk with a computer, never realized how much of the posting and web browsing is done by people at work. Remarkable. Don't people get called on this , especially in todays working climate, think i'd be worried as hell in getting on the wrong side of a employer. Say some one good job, what ever that is , say $35 per hour. A hour away from work a day, that adds up .

And I printed out a two page finance report for the VFW a couple weeks ago too and I even used the "fine" printer setting just to use more ink. Better get the FBI on the phone...pronto!
