What does it mean when the folder next to the thread is red with a little flame sticking out of it?

Not sure. With a quick glance I'd say it's any thread read over 450 times. It's a hot topic?
Looking at more threads that's not quite right either. Maybe a combination of read + responses?

It's about the number of responses that a thread has. The admin sets the max/min count that a thread needs to have to become a 'hot topic'.
