Have a 2009 mazda 5 with 19000 miles on it.
Always kept up with maintenance, etc.
Has started making a noise which sounds as though it is coming from the right rear in the morning when I put car in reverse and back out of garage. If I put car in park and restart the engine, the noise stops and I can put the car into drive and go forward as usual with no noise.
I made an appt with the dealer to have it looked at, but does anyone have any idea what it is likely to be and possibly what it will cost?

It only seems to make the noise going in reverse. I havent noticed it any time except in the morning. I live in NC. It will do it with or without the brake when I am in reverse. It will contine even if I am stopped, once the noise has started.
If I put the car in drive and go forward while the car is making the noise, the noise will contine, but if i put it in park ans turn off the engine, i can put it in drive and go with no noise

Does it sound like farting? Because my car makes that noise a lot. But, oddly, only when my husband is in the car.
