Another example of why politicians rank way down near the bottom of the pile in terms of creditability and ethics. They will turn just about anything into an opportunity for advancing their agenda.

Someone should tell her what the effect of the 1099 legislation will have on businesses...our company is expecting an expense of $30k-50k to abide by that rule that was put into the HR3200 bill. That is someone's full-time wage right there - job killing is just right IMO.

No one is adressing how many lives the death panels will cost us.Sigh..... That is because there are no "death Panels". It is a myth perpetrated by opponents of accessable care. That is not right....I was specifically told on the old boards that the bill had death panel wording included. Of course, no one could actually find the part of the bill & quote it for me, but they were absolutely certain it was in there. ;D

No, people will just be "encouraged" to discuss "end of life planning." EVERY YEAR. Doctor: You dead yet? Patient: No. Doctor: Well let's talk about it and hope it happens soon...it's getting pretty pricey to keep your old ass alive.

How many of you would like to have lived the life of Terri Schiavo during her last 15 years? Raise your hands.
I am keeping my hand down.

No, people will just be "encouraged" to discuss "end of life planning." EVERY YEAR.Not exactly. There will be money available to cover the cost of such discussions as they may be appropriate. If you are facing an operation which is necessary but has a 35% chance of leaving you in a vegetative coma, you may well want to do some end of life planning. Most people do. Yes and Social Security was originially a voluntary program that took less than 1% of someone's salary. Now look at the monster it has become. That is the problem with government...as soon as they are let in the door they quickly take over and make a mess of everything. There's nothing in this legislation that prevents government from goign overboard on this crap as the years go by. And THAT is the biggest danger of this legislation.

How many believe Terry Schiavo even KNEW how she was living the last 15 years of her life? I'm keeping my hand down on that one. Will I care what I look like in my coffin? No, because I will already be dead.

None of us will care what we look like in a coffin. In fact I am going to beat Father Time and be cremated.

How many would like to starve 2 weeks prior to dying? She had no idea she was starving. She had no thoughts either.

I really have to stay away from the New Topics list. I avoided MSN's P&M because I hate the exaggeration like OP's thread title.
It references Libs and Celebs when only one politician was involved and one person OP calls a Celeb. One politician used someone to further their own agenda? Start blogging, create threads! This is news I tells you. ( NOT )

How many would like to starve 2 weeks prior to dying? She did not die from starvation...she died from dehydration. She didn't. She was in a constant vegetative state and her brain, or what was left of it, weighed about half that of an average, healthy brain. I aways told DW that I couldn't really care what happens to my body after I die. At that point, I'm done with it. Throw me in the back of the truck, set it on fire and roll it off a cliff for all I care. BUT....make sure I'm really toast first and not just sleeping really, really well.
