Hi all!
I have a couple questions about the new forum:
Can we post threads not related to $ here? What does the Karma (under posts) tally keep track of?

Hmmm. I take it no one knows or cares.

Well, this is a forum about personal finance, investing, etc. I poked around earlier to see if I could locate any rules of engagement concerning thread topics, but could not find anything. If the question/topic is about money, investing, credit cards, loans, mortgages, emergency funds, etc....post it here. Pointless topics go to Everything Else. That is my take anyway. I have seen a few threads moved, but the mods here are doing a great job. I forget what Karma means.

Karma doesn't mean or do anything except people can give you one if they feel like it. It is like a popularity rating on either you as a poster or if people agree with you.
We used to give smiting which was the opposite. One evil troll got many smites and no karmas because he was mean and wrong.
I like to give my karma to posters with zero if they have posted more than 10 times and aren't bad so they don't get hurt feeling and not continue.
They are a nice thing to do for someone who has helped you in some way.

There are a variety of forums and sub-forums for certain designated topics.... recipes, travel, healthy living, military, politics, investing, tax, etc. The Women in Red Forum is a continuation from the MSN boards and focuses on people (mostly women) trying to get out of debt. There's also threads there for savings, and the grocery challenge thread. The Smart Spending Forum is a continuation from the MSN boards and focuses on Smart Spending, budgeting basics, home and lifestyle topics, etc. There's an ongoing chat thread and a money-related Question of the Day over there, too. Everything Else is really designed for threads of all sorts and types ~ often not money-related. And Your Money tends to be a rather catch-all money-related forum, too.... but most posts are theoretically related to money. For the sake of simplicity and finding your target audience, it's probably preferable to consider WHERE to post a new thread, but no scary alarms will go off if you post it somewhere and it gets moved.
