I got a Dutch oven. Anyone have any good Dutch oven recipes for cooking indoors. I'm finding tons where you cook over a fire. I need things I can cook in my kitchen.

mmhmm, I saw that link when I was fishing around the internet last night. This might be a stupid question, but some recipes say to heat the Dutch oven to certain temperatures. How do you know you've heated it to, say, 250 degrees on your stove top?

mmhmm, I saw that link when I was fishing around the internet last night. This might be a stupid question, but some recipes say to heat the Dutch oven to certain temperatures. How do you know you've heated it to, say, 250 degrees on your stove top? I'd have to look at the actual recipe, but most stuff I've cooked has been in the oven, not on the stove top. Here is how I do country style ribs BBQ ribs: Country style ribs (when done, the meat falls off the bone) 1 jar BBQ sauce (or more or less) optional--sliced onion and lemon Cut the extra fat off ribs and then put them in the oven on a broiler pan for about 15 mins to melt some fat off. two ways to cook: Dutch oven (I prefer this): cook in oven for 325 (?) for 4+ hours (the longer you cook it the better the meat falls apart) Crock pot: low heat for 8+ hours Good with mashed potatoes as a side At first it may seem like there is not enough BBQ sauce, but once the meat starts cooking down and juices come out it should be good. Once I added a little water because I was a little worried about it, and ended up making the sauce really thin in the end. Check it about half way or so

Thanks apple!
I made Chicken Stew with Lemon and Rosemary this weekend. It was really good. That recipe started out on the stove top by sauteing the veggies and browning the chicken, then everything went into the pot together with stock and it finished in the oven.
