LOL - the other logical thinker among us spelled apostrophes incorrectly.

A thousand apologies. English is not my mother tongue. I thank you for pointing it out to me. Otherwise, how will I ever learn? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

If you're that worried about spelling, why not ask everyone to put a spell check program on their browser? I use Aspell with my Firefox. It works great! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

True, but it will catch misspelled words. I know English isn't MY first language. Misspelled words confuse the poor fuzzy lamb. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/melancholy.png)

Which is why I own almost a dozen books on grammar. None of which I've finished reading.

I think we should all show a little patience and compassion for our dear Virgil. It's quite clear that the stress of his job, plus the approaching holidays (which he claims he does not recognize or celebrate) has caused him to relapse so soon after his last mental collapse. His recent ramblings about the snow leopards was the first sign that something was amiss. This latest tirade about spelling, punctuation and sentence construction is just more evidence that his mind is working on overload.

The misspelling that irritates me is when someone types 'loose' when they mean 'lose'. I usually get so distracted I cannot continue reading the post. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Oh sure. Take an interest in the board's grammar because it proves snow leopards are taking over their minds, and suddenly they label you as "crazy". ![](http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/smileys/eyeroll.gif)

Your avatar's veering off to the left again - that happened the last time your mind slipped a bit. Be careful - if it falls off the page, your last word may be "Arrrrggghhhh" as you slowly descend into the depths of insanity.

Never use a preposition to end a sentence with.

What? Me? I'm just returning the favor since you felt it was imperative to comment on my missing question mark. Oh, and BTW, said question mark has been added because I don't want you to suffer. ;D

According to lingual purists, even a sentence such as "This is the place they chose to meet." doesn't pass muster.

I think it involves hiding Strunk and White inside the pages of Playboy, and reading it in secret under the blankie at night. Just a thought. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/raspberries.png)

That would be me. It's a result of banging my head on my desk out of total frustration after reading page after page of a Doxie thread. ![](http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/smileys/8.gif)

I believe Virgil's latest ramblings began when his avatar got put on ice. If it's dry ice, that would explain the problem - he's been inhaling carbon dioxide fumes for several days now.

A dent? A dent, you ask? More like a trough big enough to feed a herd of pigs. Which reminds me, I need to go over to YM and see if anything new has been going on in Doxieville.

I care about your mind, sir.
A missing question mark may seem like a minor offense but it's an early symptom of uncian lexicodegeneracy—the disease I'm trying to root out.
Missing question marks quickly turn into Shoog-Cheesy's Disease (known by the medical term 'catellipsis majora') characterized by chronic ellipsis abuse. As the disease progresses you run the risk of developing full-out unciaphilia nonsensus, exhibiting late-stage symptoms seen in POM, Lassie, and other victims. This includes not only grammatical lunacy such as transposing adjectives, misquoting text, and swapping in hyphens for commas, but also use of onomatopoeic purring with too many 'r's, or action statements such as "X gives big, slobbery kisses to Y."
In short, I am a sentinel for your mind, my esteemed rovo. I am but a humble sentry upholding my oath to keep EE citizens from harm. Would you mock me for such a duty of care?
What but the written word separates us from the beasts, o Nancy?
