It seemed like there were a lot of questionable calls this year. It might always be that way, but I don't recall so many coming up so often in the past.

...I might agree with you... all the craziness regarding concussions and fines and not falling at the feet of the Brady makes for awkward officiating, imo...

Maybe.
As TV gets more and more high def and there are more and more cameras on the field., though it is easier and easier to see mistakes that no one would have known about in the past.

Why no women refs in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc? It is about time. There is a woman ref in the NBA.

Why no women refs in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc? It is about time. With all due respect, does this matter? The way I see it, men are playing on the field (or arena, or whatever) so men officiate. Not that the two need to be separated, but couldn't one make the same argument about why there are no women playing in the NFL?

All the petty pass interference calls are getting out of hand. When you see a pass go 10 feet over the receiver out of bounds, or out of the end zone, and pass interference is still called is ridiculous. Many times it is the offensive receiver instigating the interference, but the defender gets called. Too many games are won by petty calls in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter where a hail Mary desperation pass is thrown, and all they are doing is praying some poor defender might actually defend against the a pass that is just thrown out there to no one in particular.

Yes, the officiating has been horrible. Last week against a K.C. Chief helmet to helmets Joe Flacco and the ref is standing right there and watching and does NOTHING! All that bullcrap about protecting the players is a complete joke. They protect who they want to protect. I've seen terrible officiating all season for many different teams. Don't even get me started on the horrible calls and non calls in the Ravens and Steelers game.

It's hard for me to say if it's worse, better, or the same than in recent years, but I definitely thought the officiating was bad this year. I agree with Value Buy on some highly questionable pass interference calls.
Plus I think the referees are very selective about when they call holding or roughing the passer. It seems like a lot of plays happen where an offensive player gets away with a hold or a defensive player gets away with a late hit, but then shortly thereafter a much less obvious hold/hit gets flagged.
