I went Christmas shopping yesterday, and spent $10 on my niece and $100 on myself. The rest of the year I avoid going shopping. You?

I married a person that likes to shop. I haven't been shopping in 20 + years. All I do is casually say "I need socks" & they magically appear. It works for me.

Yep, I also manage to spend money on myself while gift shopping! It insures I get what I want.

Not this year, but in the past I tend to buy things for myself because I don't get around to getting things I need until Christmas shopping season.
I'm not a frequent mall shopper.

Before this year I didn't. This year, since I have some money, and I don't have to buy anything for my ex, I bought myself a new set of golf irons.

You're not alone. I've never dared tally up what I spend on myself versus others.

I thought it wasn't how much you spent, but how much you saved ;D!

I sometimes do since I am not a shopper so seldom go in stores. Nothing much this year, can't seem to want anything.
I was going to do some shopping tonight but the road was full heading towards stores so I turned around and went home.
I only have two small gifts for my mom and no ideas but hate to shop. Ordering my brother's gift on line shipped to his house tonight hope he is home before it arrives since he is on vacation and it might be too heavy for mom to lift.
I am like Tex's wife in that my boyfriend thinks socks just appear so it is tempting to just buy him things if I am in a store.

i used to tell people im related to that they could just buy me socks as back in the day everyone i knew had no money, fastforward 20 years i cant seem to get any thing else but socks. so if i really want or need something i buy it myself. as for the gifts i just smile and say ........just what i wanted

[and no ideas] I bought Mom a Homedics automatic soap/lotion dispenser. (Bought myself one, too ) It has a setting for dispensing small medium large amounts-I find I end up sticking my hand under the sensor twice, but so far I really like it-I hate the mess of bar soap at the sink, and I am always knocking over the pump bottles, plus they aren't touch-free.

I do this too. I plan for it though... i know there will be stuff on sale i want, so that's what a good third of my christmas savings is for....
We all get new socks at Christmas. Our advent is to hand a row of new socks on the mantle (12 pair, 24 socks, usually 4 pair each for the kids, 2 pair each for us)... then each sock gets a small present, and each day someone opens one, and by the time the month is half over, someone is getting a pair of socks every day as well as a small gift...

we have bought way to much stuff for ourselves. we see it on sale and it's like "oh, that's a good price and i've been wanting one of those..." it's dangerous. then the other day i thought my dbf was buying a gift for his nephew - a remote control helicopter - until we got home and he started playing with it himself. yup, he's 30. nope, we didn't need it. we're bad.

I buy for myself because I live in a small town so when I go to a larger place to christmas shop then I get things that I need or want . I don't get out of town that often. So I treat myself occasionally!

I have an amazon gift card I may use on something for myself, but I haven't spent much on myself. I've been spending a lot on "us" however.

the other day while out of town shopping i bought a new leather jacket after wearing it for about a week i realized it still had the ink tag on it. since the store i bought it in was 4 hrs away i thought i was screwed. luckily a nice young girl at another store removed it for me. i thought about tipping her but figured she might think i stole it

I did the same. I can't tell you how much I spent on granite and labor last week.

I went in to buy a sweater for Mom. Somehow I ended up with 3 new dresses instead.
I really do need new dresses but i could have waited a week, jeez.

I went Christmas shopping yesterday, and spent $10 on my niece and $100 on myself. The rest of the year I avoid going shopping. You? DW and I went shopping this past weekend and spent over $2,500 on ourselves. ;D We're trying to stimulate the economy.

I wouldn't say I spend "too much" on myself at Christmas, but, I definitely spend more on myself than all of the gifts I buy for others! I don't buy a lot throughout the year, so, I take advantage of all of the great sales between Thanksgiving and New Years to get the things I want. Last year it was a laptop and Ipod touch. This year it was a Shark steam mop, a Food Saver, a 22" LCD TV for my camper, airline tickets to Florida for spring training and tickets to a few games...so far, that's it, other than some odds and ends, but very well may pick up more stuff at the after Christmas sales!

I just bought a Cuisnart Griddler. The stupid commercials worked on me!!!! This is how I justified it - my employees bought me a gift card for $60 on Amazon. Therefore it only cost me a little less than $40 and I can grill meat without an outside grill!!!!
I went to Kohls for an ornament for our chinese gift exchange and ended up not getting an ornament but getting 2 new pairs of pants and a pair of jeans that I "needed". The following week I got a sweater with the Kohls cash (for myself). Luckily, I don't shop very much!!!!

DH and I went to an outlet mall yesterday. I spent $83 on hats and gloves for poor kids and about $50 on underwear and socks for myself. I think I was in a traditional mall once this year and DH not at all, and we don't like department stores. More and more, we prefer small stores where you can get in, find what you want, maybe even get some personal service, and get out.

If you don't count the new computer (no monitor/no printer/simply a new computer), I spent $15 on myself this Christmas.
I have a china fetish. When we redid the countertop/backsplash, my cannisters no longer matched. I found a set on CraigsList for $35, but it included 8 place settings, mixing bowls, and tons of other stuff. We actually kept the cannisters, two soup bowls to keep the dog's stuff in, and a pitcher to be a utensil bowl.
There wasn't a sugar bowl. My husband is a sugar freak when it comes to his coffee. So I found a nice one that coordinated at Pfaltzgraff. Then they did their "12 days of Christmas," and I bought a couple of more pieces in that pattern (the creamer because who wants just a sugar bowl and a veggie bowl that is now my countertop fruit bowl).
I think I deserve $15. My DH and I don't buy presents for each other for stuff like Christmas although I did pick up this fly fishing house that Michael's had for 50% off for him. He struggled not to buy it at full price so he also deserved the reward.

I didn't gift myself a thing. I was waiting to see if I would receive any gift cards before I went shopping for myself. I didn't get any...

We did the same this year: new tv for the living room about $500 after taxes, new clothes for my wife and I about $350. So we spent about $850 on us this year while all the other gifts combined costs us about $200-300

This is why X-Mas 2010 turned into my money mission impossible. I think I spent more money on myself than everyone else combined! Curse you Amazon and your amazing deals Oh and curse you uncommongoods for having such cool stuff for my friends that also turned out to be tailor made for me....grrrrrr. I think it's a shopping disease. I bought my little sister the cutest Tangled Doll Set and ended up reminiscing about my favorite Disney movies. This ended up with me buying THREE classic Disney DVDs for myself! I'm soooo ashamed yet eagerly awaiting delivery LOL. Oh and let me not even get started with my last minute gift run at JC Penny which led me to their Sephora section...oh the make-up/perfume lust that ensued...sigh.
