I really wasn't ever carded much when I was a kid. Local bars usually assumed that I was older (my hair started turning Grey/silver/white when I was 16) & I can't remember when I wasn't big. When I was in the military I could buy liquor at 18 so it wasn't an issue there. Only once was I turned down at a liquor store (I was 20 & the state age was 21), no big deal, I sent my wife up to buy it (backward state, a man was of legal age at 21. A woman became legal age when they got married, WTH?).

I'm old, so I haven't been carded in a long, long time. Clerks don't even ask me for an ID for the senior discount!

Tex, maybe they figured if she was married she deserved/needed to drink no matter what age she was.

Other than being carded in the airport bars like have been mentioned here, I don't recall ever being carded, and I was buying beer and going into bars at 15. Once back then, the subject came up in a bar room discussion, and even the bartender mentioned that I had to be at least 24 or so; I was 17 at the time. I can't wait to start using all those senior discounts that are out there.
