There are places in the world where Marine Corps history forever connects them, i.e., Tripoli, Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima and more recently Khe Sanh.
As Commander in Chief of our military forces President Obama is noted for his lack of appreciation for what makes a person a leader. For instance, if you respect the Naval Medical Service you don't refer to the most respected men who accompany Marines into combat and attend their wounded as "corpse men". And you don't refer to Marine Corps history with a flippant "by your leave" as he did when he made his speech on Veterans Day.
