Peeps, Happy Saturday! My eyes are healing slowly, as is my face. Long story, but short version: We have what turned out to be an oak tree in the backyard. Two big branches broke off. DH and I hauled most of it out (a tree service is coming to get rid of the rest and trim/reshape the tree). I found out the hard way I am allergic to oak. Blisters, rashes, hives, bloodshot eyes. Took a big steroid shot in my heinie (and booty size means nothing when it comes to that shot ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/unwell.png) ) and the next seven days on eye drops, antihistamines and steroids. I was not able to swim today, of course, but I did make up for it by getting out and weeding for about an hour.

DD and I took the kids to the circus yesterday. It was a very small circus and there weren't any animals. It was good for what it was and the kids enjoyed it. Afterwards they came over to my house and we had pizza for dinner and DD and DSIL took down a portion of the fence in the pasture to get ready for the well drilling people. They put up some temporary fence panels until I can convince the cows that they want to go into the front pasture.

That sucks! I found out I was allergic to cedar trees while on trip to Austin, TX. It wasn't as severe as your reaction and fortunately not many of the type here in my fair city. But we are over run with Oak trees. I would have to live in bubble wrap if allergy to oak reared it's ugly head. Glad you are doing better. You're one tough lady in my book

I am looking and feeling better, thanks NoNamePerson and should be able to run tomorrow. Mostly doing indoor stuff today - washing floors, doing laundry, etc.

Speaking of health issues or surprises, anyone know stuff about arthritis and joint swelling on us less young folks? I had been able to keep things from getting too bad on my one middle finger by olive leaf extract, but its not helping anymore. A customer says its due to cartiledge breakdown and something about bone growth, but I am not sure I buy it for my particular situation. ?

Opti are you willing to use OTC meds? I use Tylenol Arthritis for Stage 1 in both knees, and it is working. I also eat a lot of anti inflammatory foods (dark berries and fruits, dark greens, oily fish, nuts) and drink green tea. I have been advised that there are steroid injections, Botox injections and hyaluronic injections now in use, all with very good results being reported. The first two are covered by insurance; the hyaluronic is not yet covered. I have not tried the injections yet.

I had no idea this many oak tree species existed; Florida has 12 of them. I knew about oak trees from living up north, and did not have any issue raking up the dead leaves from the tree in May. But of course, the dead stuff has no active sap or pollen, so it would not be an issue. The live branches, on the other hand...

Interesting. Because I have never had allergies, I know nothing about them.

The only oak trees I had been familiar with were the big, beautiful ones that have the lovely brown/rust-colored leaves in the Fall that grow "Up North". When we'd bought our house in FL, I had no idea that the large tree in our backyard was another type of oak. When my neighbor told me what it was (he did lawn & landscaping work for a living) you could've knocked me over with a feather.

Would Voltaren work in the earlier stages?

I'm at DD1's, dogsitting. DIL got the phone charger that was stuck in my cigarette lighter out, so I can plug my Garmin in and use it. It's funny how accustomed I've become to using it, even when I know where I'm going.
I like being able to look at it and verify where I am.

Bad comparison, but when Bad Boy Puppy was getting old, it made a huge difference for him, as far as pain management, and my doctor told me they recommend glucosamine for humans too. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) I do hope you find something that works well.

If my paper maps don't help, I prefer my Garmin to my cell phone in getting directions. At least the Garmin doesn't keep shutting off. We're already on our second Garmin, as we wore out our first one.

I'm on my 3rd, because my car was broken into twice (2 different cars) and my Garmin was one of the things they stole. Agreed. It's hard to follow a map, when your phone keeps shutting off. What a pain. I like the way Garmin displays where you're going and where you are. And they have great customer service, when I've called.

It's nearly 12:30AM here. I just got home from DD1s. There were 8 car accidents, with the police blocking at least one lane, on the street leaving her house. All in less than 10 city blocks! It was insane!
After that mess, it was smooth sailing for the next 5 miles, or so, home.

I did run this morning (my hip is still sore from the steroid shot, but still almost four miles). My skin and eyes feel OK, no extra itch, but it was very overcast at the time. I made blueberry pancakes and baked off DH's cookies and made his lunch sandwiches for the next two days. My friend and his daughter are back from Europe, so we are doing lunch tomorrow.
Clear and hot here; the Florida Panther's victory parade in Ft Lauderdale got pounded by rain this morning. I am watching the Tour de France on repeat via Peacock and looking at races for the rest of the year. I did find one near Asheville for the weekend we will be there.

Thanks, Nancy.
At 12:44pm it is 94° here and HOT! Predicted to be 100° F today.
I need to get gas in my car, pick up scripts and do some grocery shopping today. I should go before it gets hotter.
I wish it was 70°!

I'm getting ready to mop the kitchen floor which is basically a pointless activity. I mixed up some sugar cookies this morning and will bake them either this evening or tomorrow morning. Then the kids are going to come over and help me frost them and put sprinkles on them.

At 4:50PM it is 99° and HOT outside!
I vacuumed my hardwood floors and gave away several pairs of flip flops, I haven't worn in the last few years. That's 'one' more thing cleaned out! Yay!
I need to go run my errands now.

Good Evening Kids! DS & I just took a short walk, as the sun is finally shining, and the skies are clear. I'd prefer to walk closer to sunset, but the mosquitoes are SO bad right now. They'll even attack you if you stand in the shade.

Stay away from those pesky things, busymom. I got gas and a few groceries. The pharmacy was closed when I got there. Ugh. My car had a quarter tank still, when I filled it. But it still cost me twice as much as my Focus used to. But it will go about 50 miles further, on a tank of gas, it says. I need to go back out and get the rest of my groceries, but it's so hot, I needed to take a break and have a drink before I go back out. I always have them bag my cold items separately from the others, so I get them inside and put away first. I bought a lot of lemonade this time, to avoid drinking sodas. I'm a sweaty mess!
