Been busy all day, so I missed brunch. Been a cloudy, rainy day but we did get out to buy a new weed whacker. Stopped at the market for bananas and salad. Took DH to his first Aldi. He was not impressed; I happen to like Aldi. Dinner is chili from my local fish store (it is also a gourmet market that makes all kinds of prepared foods) - I am adding my homemade black beans and fixing fresh cornbread on the side.

Thanks @nancyssummersip! I was just thinking that I need to get some lunch.
Yesterday, when I went out to get my groceries, a loud argument had just taken place at the pool, between a drunk guy and everyone else. The drunk guy had threatened to beat up a 60+ woman and a quadriplegic man in a wheelchair. It escalated from there. Little kids were at the pool at the time. People were very worked up. Agressive drunk is not attractive, especially in public places.

toomuchreality I hope you were able to get your groceries out of the car. Don't overdo it in the heat. Yesterday DD and I picked about 3/4 of a bushel of apricots. I paid the grands to pick up the ones that had fallen off the tree and were on the ground. Totally worth it to me to not have to bend over and get all of them up and it will be better for the mower if they are picked up. Today I've been doing house tasks but should be outside. Today and tomorrow will be coolest days over the next two weeks. It will only be 90 degrees. Yesterday I did something that I hope I don't regret. Mom and I will be renting a cabin on a lake for a week. That is long time for Mom and I to be together. We had to take it for a week because it is a larger cabin, which will be nice. We will even each have our own bedroom, even better. This is one of our favorite lakes and it is really hard to get a camping spot much less a cabin.
Yes. I got my groceries in. Thankfully, it was much cooler. After having 2 heart attacks and A-fib, I try not to push things too much. I'm glad your grands picked up the fruit that had fallen on the ground. I hope you have a good time at the lake. How's your pool been? Are you using it much, in this heat?

Good Evening Kids! I found a handyman, and he showed up this afternoon to start on some projects for me. He completed a couple of projects today, but the heat here is nasty, so we pushed off some non-essential stuff to another day. The heat index here is going to be over 100 for most of the day tomorrow, just to give you an idea of what our weather is like. I'm exhausted, and I'm blaming the weather. Sorry to hear about the scary drunk, toomuchreality . Seriously, who would threaten someone in a wheelchair, much less a woman? Loser! Hope someone called the cops on him.

At least I wasn't part of the yelling match. I just heard it from my apt, which overlooks the pool. I think mgmt has video cameras set up on the pool area, so hopefully, something will be done about what happened. The drunk guy kept trying to get me to drink with him. I said no. I'm glad I did.

Well, our "baby shark" lost another of her baby teeth. It's only the 2nd tooth of Lola's that we've found. Dogs must swallow most of them...

Good (hot) Morning Kids! Today is our hottest day of the year, so far. I hadn't seen any activity on our neighbor's new deck (under construction) until today. Not sure why they're back at it, when the heat index is going to be between 100 & 110 all day, but I hope they don't get heat stroke.

Today was our coolest day before the heat kicks back up. I got the lawn mowed. Then I hopped into the pool for about 15-20 minutes to cool off. I'm quite pleased with myself for figuring out my plumbing issue and saving myself a pile of money. Yesterday I kept having super low water pressure at my kitchen sink and my washing machine had almost non-existent pressure. Of course I immediately thought the worst and was sure my well was failing and they would need to drill a new well. If not that it was probably the pump and they would have to replace that. All day I was stomping around and stewing on my water pressure issues. Late afternoon, once I calmed down, I started testing the bathroom sinks etc and they were all fine. That ruled out the well and the pump. Then I thought some more on it and realized I had been seeing Manganese (sand) in the toilet. We used to have that in the well water all the time where I moved from. I unscrewed the faucet and removed the screen in the faucet and sure enough I was able to tap out a bunch of the sand. The kitchen faucet works just fine.
DD came over this morning and we pulled the washing machine out and removed the lines that fed into the back. In the back of the washer there were filters and the one was almost totally clogged. We got both of the cleaned out and the lines hooked back up and I am back in the laundry business. Saved myself the cost of a plumbers visit and around here they are booked about 3 weeks out, if you can get one to answer the phone.

Our cool/low temp overnight was 79°F. Depending on what TV channel you watch, our expected high today will be between 98-105°F. I wilt in these temps! As I age, I find myself becoming frail. Not something I enjoy, or look forward to.
I need to be much more productive today, than I have been. Especially when it comes to laundry. It's so easy to leave it in a pile, on the other side of the bed and ignore it. Ugh. I don't wanna!
Happy Tuesday, everyone! 😊

Good Morning Kids! I've been dealing with paperwork "messes" of my relative in the nursing home. Today's problem is going to end up with me going to the nursing home to show the head nurse some paperwork that was mailed to me. Since when do they need my "permission" to give him needed medication? My philosophy has always been, if he needs it, or it makes him more comfortable, give it to him! Oh well...

Woo-Hoo! I'm so easily pleased. Especially when it comes to me being the slightest bit productive. I didn't get my laundry finished, but I got a good bit of it done. I actually cooked some food and I got my dishes done and put away. Things don't feel so overwhelming to me now. Whew!
Happy Hump day!

Good Morning Kids! My day started with a "thud", as I got a call from the nursing home that my relative needs to go back into the hospital. I just saw him yesterday, and he DID look tired, but I'd blamed it on the heat. Anyway, they're not sure what's wrong, other than his oxygen level is too low, and his heart is working too hard.

Good Morning Kids! He's in ICU now, and is "hanging in there", but the doc said he was pretty sick when they brought him in.
Temps feel pretty good in the mid-70's right now, but it's supposed to be quite uncomfortable this afternoon...

Thanks Everyone! Spent some time at the hospital today. My phone has also been ringing off the hook. Sadly, he is not doing well right now. This really s%cks. I may need to make some medical decisions that I really don't want to make. Tonight will sort of determine which direction things will be going. If he continues on the path he's on now, he could last a day, or a week. And yes, if he passes, I get to make the funeral arrangements. It isn't any fun being a responsible adult.

Dd2 and her family are going out of town tomorrow, for the weekend. I would normally be watching her 2 girls tomorrow and going to a soccer game, or a t-ball game on Saturday. It's only Thursday and I miss them already!
Distance makes the heart grow fonder. For sure.

How is your relative doing today busymom ? Sincerely hope that he has shown some improvement. It's mixed. We're going to try one more thing and give it a couple days. If we don't see any improvement, sadly we're probably out of options. At least I'm working with a medical team that doesn't believe in quitting too early. But, I'm also talking with a palliative nurse. If the overall picture doesn't improve, I want to be sure that he's comfortable, at least as much as possible. We're sort of at the one step forward, 2 steps back stage right now.
