I'm glad that I took today off. DD and I had a fun day of shopping. While I didn't get to shop quite as much as I wanted or look at things as closely as I had hoped but the kids did beautifully. We had the two youngest, the just turned 3 and the 11 month old. DGS1 had been told that we would be having hamburgers for lunch. On our third store for the morning he was more stores, too many stores, where's the burger store. From now on in my mind Red Robin will be known as the burger store. He was so good in the restaurant and chowed down on fries and even ate half his burger. When one of the staff brought him more sauce for the fries he even said, without prompting, Thank you guy.
It's about a 40 minute drive from the city to home and the back seat was very quiet, both boys crashed and were sound asleep.

Good Evening Kids! Lots to do here, that's why you haven't seen as much of me lately. I've got about 3 weeks of crazy, then I hope things might quiet down a bit.

Good Afternoon Kids! Woke up to freezing rain, and a nice glaze on the roads & sidewalks. A "blech" type of day, where you're tempted to just go back to bed...

It was drizzling this morning but above freezing. It might snow tonight. I'm over that.
It's grey and ugly today and I need sunshine.

It's Thursday and a heavy paperwork one at that. Ignore the wails from being overcome by paper. Tea consumption is now in progress.

There was snow on the ground when I woke up. Thankfully, it's melted away, but it's still cloudy and cold.

I got my new furnace and AC unit yesterday. They never called me and told me that they were on the way, but I was happy to see them despite that. Last night got down into the 30's and tonight is supposed to get below freezing.

Last week I hurt my ribs putting DGD into her crib for a nap. The side rails don't go down. Tomorrow, my daughter will be gone all day, so I'm going to have to figure out a way to get my DGD in her crib for her nap, again. I can barely move from the last time. Not sure how we're going to do it. Hopefully, I'll be able to lift her over the rail and have her stand up, then lay down. But I'm not holding my breath, since she's never done that before. I don't want to get hurt again. Ugh.

Do you ever go to a chiropractor? In the past I have popped ribs out of place, it hurts like the dickens. The chiropractor would pop them back into place and the pain was gone almost instantaneous. I hope you feel better soon and find a solution for tomorrow. If she is old enough maybe you could have a special Grandma nap and sleep on the floor on a blanket. Something new and different that only Grandma does.

My neighbor brought over a big sack of fresh asparagus, just picked today. He is a farmer and that is one of his crops. Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight.

The last few weeks asparagus has been $1.99 a pound so I've been buying it. One week real thin stalks (my wife likes them like that) and one week thick.

I didn't know ribs could be popped out and back in! Thanks! I suggested sleeping on the floor to her mom, who thought I was crazy. Haha But there's no way I'm leaning over that railing again. And you're right, you dangle the baby over and see how far she drops! Those cribs are the worst design ever! Hopefully, I'll catch her when she's tired, but awake enough I can lift her in, but she can stand up, then lay down. <fingers crossed 🤞>

When my sister lived in Eden, Idaho, and we'd go visit, sometimes we would take garbage bags out and walk along the ditches of the nearby farmers. We would spend the morning picking wild asparagus tips. Then take it back to her house and freeze it. We always got enough to last all year. So good! And good memories too.

The Toddler's bed has rails that don't go down. Now that the mattress is as low as it can go, I don't know if I can get him in without his help. He goes to bed easily for them but I will have to not let him fall asleep as I don't think I can get him that low myself.
He weighs a lot more than he did 6 months ago and I could barely do it then.

Yep. That's exactly what my problem is. DD suggested tonight, that I stand on a step stool to put DGD2 down for her nap. I said NO WAY! We'd both end up dead! Hahaha

I think you are correct.
I am taking care of him at a hotel next weekend. They are bringing a pack and play. Told me I won't have any problems getting him in that. I hope they are right.
I also hope he isn't too bored in a suite at a hotel since he is used to going to day care.

If you can lift him waist high, you should be ok with the pack & play. Good Morning Kids! It's been a busy, and an expensive week. Speedy had his annual check-up at the vet, and including his shots & heartworm prevention medication, the bill came to $288. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/faint.gif) I can remember when DH & I got our first dog, the yearly bill didn't come to more than $75 tops. Oh well... The sun is out this morning, but it is below freezing here. Looking forward to warmer days ahead. How quickly are food prices going up for you all? Just in the past week, milk has increased to $2.49 a half gallon, and 18 eggs shot up to $4.99. That's crazy prices for the Midwest, so I can only imagine what folks are paying in other parts of the country. I mean, this is a producing state, after all.

You can show him the ice machine and vending machine, if they have them. Beach balls are good when traveling. (The All A Dollar store near me carries small ones.) They're lightweight and fold up. Less destructive than most harder balls and you can roll it to each other, or roll/throw it in a garbage can. Etc. You can also get beads and pipe cleaners at the dollar store. Maybe he'll enjoy stringing the beads onto the pipe cleaners? I also get bubbles there. You'll be fine. I hope you have fun!

I got lucky today. When it got time to put my DGD down for her nap, she was asking for the lamb she sleeps with. So I lifted her into her crib to get it, rather than hand it to her. Then I got her pacifier for her, she laid down and immediately went to sleep. Whew! No leaning over the railing for me today!

I know they will bring the iPad they have set up for him. It only has kids stuff on it and they have it set up so it needs a password to buy anything.
He has learned to take his favorite activities back to start but otherwise does the activities in order. Hopefully they will allow him more screen time when the great aunt is babysitting.
He is pretty good at entertaining himself--until he gets hungry. He lets them know if he is hungry.
He is at the age where he would be fine if his diaper was never changed so I have to have a nose for that.

Hello peeps! I need to go to bed soon -- early morning race out in the western hinterlands of the county. Been out there twice, but not in the dark, so this should be an adventure. Had my light dinner (carrots and tuna on romaine with tomatoes) and some walnuts and dried cherries for a snack.

I am back, peeps! A second place in the 60-69 age group, which I am happy with. And I got my fried chicken fix afterwards! Came home, showered, started laundry and mopped all the floors except the kitchen. I would have enjoyed going to the fair after the race, but it did not start for three hours, the roads are all single-lane and there is severe weather heading in -- it's approaching Orlando now and should be here in about an hour or so.

Thanks! Dinner is a super-easy pre-made lasagna. If I am hungry enough by then. Three pieces of fried chicken was so fabulous, but probably too much for breakfast and lunch.
