College Football Gets a Black Eye Over Sex Scandal

"The hooplah over Paterno has all but drowned out the cries of the kids who were abused by this monster. The suffering of those children, and their families, should be foremost in everyone's mind."


This is what has been driving me crazy in the reporting of this story. Who the Eff cares if Joe Paterno got fired by phone and doesn't get finish out the season...these are stupid football games!!!! I am a huge sports fan, but every year (I'm 32 now), the results of sports events mean so much less in my life. It's entertainment, pure and simple. The things that are alleged to have happened (and apparently have happened in the case of the incident witnessed by McQueary) are incomprehensible to me. I don't have a link, but I read a statistic that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are victims of molestation/assault by an adult during their childhood. That is way too large a percentage! It is a problem that is much larger than any of us can imagine.

I'm not sure that college football gets a black eye, as much as our society does from this.

I could care less about the football part, it's the Adults in football and other sports that need to be brought to the forefront.

How many Men get away with Rape on College campuses because they use College Police and not 'downtown' police? It happens everyday, because they don't want the College/University to get a bad reputation.

McQueary is being treated differently because he is the best/only witness they have. He's a scumbag, but I get why they are doing it.

I wish they could /would charge him as iIfeel he is resposible for the rape of that boy. He saw it and that boy must of been horrified when he turned and left. He makes my skin crawl and IMO he shoudl ve in prison.

No he's not responsible for the rape, he's responsible for not stopping it when he saw what was going on. The rape was in progress.

The fact that Sandusky got such a low bail for these horrific crimes goes to show you there is a difference between the rich and the others. Any other male would of been in jail with a very high bail yet he walks the streets. It just goes to show children are NOT our priority. If you are rich
