I had an AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL shopping day today. This RA that is newer to me (because we moved) was just so amazing. The ear buds, Hot Wheels and Dove deodorant were out of stock. You know what the Assistant Mgr did? He SUBSTITUTED other items for me! I almost passed out I was so amazed lol. And, THEN, on top of that, he hands me rainchecks for all the items!
My word, a store that appreciates my business! I'm still jumping for joy. And, the fun continued. A fellow shopper told me where a nearby Wags was, so I didn't have to drive all the way in the other direction to the Wags I normally go to. She popped over there too, so I gave her a Revlon mq as thanks for helping me out.
Seriously awesome hounding day. Lots of items for free or MM. It was nice to get some more free women's deodorant. All the stuff I got is pretty much useful stuff (versus "wow" stuff) but I love adding to the stockpile.

I knew that I was probably forgetting someone. ETA: Ya, I didn't REALLY think you were mad at me, but I still feel badly cuz I can't tell you how much I really appreciated each and every one of those coupons.

Well I decided not to go out on Thanksgiving day but I did go to CVS around 11:00 a.m. today. There was plenty of parking, plenty of stock, and it wasn't crazy busy. It was like any busy weekend day. They even had some of the deals in baskets near the front so I didn't have to search the store for them. They had most of the items in stock
This was the CVS that was in existence when Longs was the competitor across the street. When CVS bought out Longs, they put in another one there, so there are 2 CVS stores across the street from each other. For some reason, the "newer" 24-hour store actually feels older because it was a Longs for so long. They didn't have a lot of stock but they did have busy checkers who didn't care as I helped myself to a new (second) store card (I asked first.) Then I went back to the better stocked one and bought a whole bunch of other stuff I wanted extras of on the second card.
So back at the first store it was great. They had 4 self-checkout lanes that no one was waiting for, or possibly even aware of, so I used those with no cheker to sneer at me and no line of people waiting behind me, and I bought one thing at a time, then used the ECB to buy the next thing.
Starting with 0 ECBs 17 (yes 17) transactions 23 items $6.38 cash OOP Used a GC for most of the tax Ended up with $12 ECB 2 hours--ugh. It's more OOP than I wanted to spend but I doubled my money and got lots of stuff we needed--dishwasher soap, Pepto, batteries, hair gel (DH was out!), flossers, and more. And stuff I wanted--candy bars, Fiber One chocolate brownies--yum!
I was so exhausted that I came right home and skipped Walgreens entirely. I might still go over there tomorrow. I only want the hair elastics and more flossers so that's not difficult and I won't be heartbroken if they're out.
A friend went to the Mac store to get an iPad and said the same thing--it wasn't too busy, just like a normal shopping day. I wonder if the sales are so spread out now that it spreads out the crowds.

This is how wonderful my CVS is. I had to go to CVS to mail something out. Well, last night when I got the SPAM, my rain check was for 20, but they only had 16 so I had 4 left on my rain check; but I forgot to have the clerk re-write it. So I told the gal that was weighing my package and asked her if it would be okay for her to write a rain check for me for those (4) and she said, "For you....absolutely."

Nice, Dancin! It helps to make friends with the cashiers, doesn't it? Did you start bringing her chocolate chip cookies? Nice job on the Christmas shopping and the Spam, btw.
Last week I went to the Walgreens I used to go to but hadn't been to in at least six months. The cashier recognized me right away and called me Sweetie and said she missed me. I told her that I had to get my coupons re-organized and would be coming regularly again. She opened up the package of the new holiday coupon books before they were put out in the store and gave me one. Nice of her!

Last year I had Thanksgiving at our home and after family left late in the afternoon, I took homemade chiffon pumpkin pie and whipped cream with paper plates and plastic forks to CVS and to both the guys that let me pull coupons on Sundays. I think that if you aren't going to stay under the radar, it really pays to take the time to befriend your cashiers. Taking the time to say hello and chat a little bit makes hounding a lot more fun (for me anyway) AND the cashiers really will go above and beyond for you. ;D

I have 2 of them you can have. let me know if you need anything else and I will send them out tomorrow. Dogmom I got your envie. Thanks so much!!! Man am I exhausted! I went to both CVS's by me a few times with like 8 transactions. They were never very busy but they had decent stock of completely diggerent things that were free after ECBs. Then after I had most of the freebies I used my ECBs on the other things on sale that I wanted for Christmas. So on top of the freebies I bought 6 Bakugan, and 2 other toys that were BOGOF as well as a few other things like bottles of Pepsi. My total OOP was $13.90 which was higher than I would have liked but almost 8 bucks was tax. So all in all I am still very happy. One of the Backugan toys would have cost almost that much just by itself and I managed to skip walmart and still get most of my Christmas shopping done for my kids.

I wasn't really planning on doing any BF shopping today, but after buying giftcards at Krogers I decided to get some Christmas shopping done. The place was packed and the lines were very long, but I met a nice lady in line and we shared a shopping cart. She saved me $15.00 by letting me use her Kohls coupon. Her generosity allowed me to get another gift and still get the $30.00 in Kohls cash. I'm about 90% done with Christmas shopping.
Rite Aid: They were out of the Phillips ear plugs, but I got a raincheck for free pairs. I'm excited about that because I didn't have to spend my $10.00 UPs which has a late expiration date. I also picked up 4 tubes of free Colgate with a raincheck.
Walmart: I went last night around 8:00 to buy superglue to fix my ceramic snowman's nose. I pricematched CVS Bayer aspirin and got 6 of them and had $3.50 in overage after coupons. It paid for the glue and I also got a can of artichoke hearts. The place was starting to get crazy with lines of shoppers waiting to get the BF deals, so I got out pretty fast.
Saveinla: What's the Macy's deal with handbags? I didn't go this year because the coupons excluded too many things but I do have a couple of giftcards I want to use. Is this just for tomorrow?
Misspt: Thanks again for the envies. I was able to get Uncle Ben's rice for $.50 a box, which is a really good price. I use that to make a really good chicken wild rice soup. I make a quadruple batch of it and give some of it away for Christmas gifts.
Dancin: What will you do with all your Spam?

It doesn't expire until 2014 so several cans will go in our Earthquake emergency food supply box. Since I was able to get so many, I'll put a few in the pantry. Personally, I don't really care for it. My mom used to fry it and serve it as our main dish sometimes. I didn't like it then and I've never really acquired a taste for it; but DH and DS seem to like it. I might look for some recipes that use it for those nights that I'm not very hungry.

I have seen them at the regular Saturday sale for around 65% off. There is no need to rush into the store, but if you are going there anyways, then check it out. I was not very impressed.

Beachbum I pm'd you my address. I'd love the Tide Q's! I'm sure I can come up with a scenario using 3 (I have one already) and the other included items. Thanks a bunch!
I'm gonna head back out shopping this morning to get more of the freebies I didn't get Thursday at CVS and Wags. I'm sure I'll be able to find stock at CVS cuz I have a ton of stores really close to each other that I can hit. 2 of them are not stores people usually "shop" at so I can almost always find the deals there. Wags, I may be out of luck at, but considering I started with $2 RR and a $10 gift card and ended up with over $25 RR's, I'm not really complaining...we only have 2 WAgs so they tend to run out of the deals pretty quick... I think I'll run to Dollar General too and pick up some of the BOGO Pedigree bags of dog food. I'm getting low and that's not a bad price (2.50/ 4+ lb bag). Too bad there aren't Q's out for it right now, but, I think I'll pick up 2 for myself and 2 for the Humane Society as they prefer this brand.

Regular grocery store shopping was reasonable yesterday for after Thanksgiving clearances. Bakery dinner rolls usually $2.19 per package of 12 (heat and serve variety) were $.99 per package. I've frozen them in the past and they've been fine. Expiration date: 12-1 for last sale date. There were some deli items (dips, veggie trays, sausage and cheese trays) at 75% off. Good for a rainy Saturday afternoon munch.

At CVS, when you do the Buy $30/Get a $10 GC is close, close enough or do you actually have to hit $30 or over to get the GC EB?

DH and I are cooking our turkey today, so we'll be having Thanksgiving Round 2. We decided that we wanted to cook a turkey so we could have turkey sandwiches, diced turkey for casseroles, and turkey soup.

OMG, round 2 for freebies this morning. CVS still had decent stock at most stores (one I went to had pretty much nothing left). There were 2 ladies looking for all the freebies and I was nice enough to tell them which stores still had most of them left. The one store that NOBODY shops at had everything, and most were in one of the round bins up front. Talk about "one stop shopping"! I bought one of the cardboard playhouses for 12.99 with excess EB's. I think my 7 y.o. Niece will love it. I used all 3 of my cards and got almost all of the freebies on all 3 cards. Holy cow! At RA I got a couple of the free earbuds, 2 of the Home Improvement gift cards for a $20 profit, a new cordless phone with caller ID (mine died a few weeks ago), a snuggle for myself and I still have 10 UPS! Off to Wags, who also still had really good stock of the freebies. I made sure to tell one of the managers how impressed I was with the stock they had gotten in for the sale. I did a gazillion transactions. Nobody was shopping today, which is what I hoped. I ended up rolling a bunch, then just spending a bunch so I don't have to worry about them when I go on vacation next week. I started with around $25 RR's and ended with 7.49, but I got 1 Venus razor, 2 scunci hair ties, 1 crest, 2 Colgate, 2 dentek, 1 oral B, 1 culterelle, 2 secret body spray, 1 cover girl lip gloss, 1 revlon lip gloss, 1 wags naproxen, 1 thermacare, and the stuff I just blew RR's on were 2 wee wee pads, 3 A&H detergent (6.99, B1G2 free, -1/2 MC), and 2 Peppermint Mocha Coffeemate, and trash bags. I am exhausted!

When do the CVS deals go live? Do they ever go before 12? I haven't done hardcore CVS hounding in a long time.....
Dogmom: Got the rebates in the mail, thanks so much!
