I am not sure I can remember a season where there have still be 3 teams without a win this late, and there seem to be a decent number with only 1 or 2. So, who do you think will get the 1st draft pick? I do realized we only only about half way through the season, but as of right now Miami is working pretty hard for it.

So are the Colts. I'm going to go with them.

So are the Colts. I'm going to go with them. I think I heard that Miami would have the first pick if they both went 0-16 or had the same record due to strength of schedule. There is still a lot of football left though and room from improvement. The Rams aren't doing so well either, but I don't see them taking Luck...probably just trade the pick for a lot of other picks if they got it.

I haven't compared Miami's vs. Indy's schedule, but I'd argue that the AFC East is a lot more competitive than whatever Indy's in (South? not sure) especially with Buffalo putting up some W's this year for a change. would Miami getting the pick for strength of schedule mean that they sucked more? I can't imagine losing against a harder team means you suck more than losing vs. an easier lineup. as far as the Rams, didn't they win a game? I could be wrong...

I gotta say, I'm quite enjoying the ass whippings that Indy keep getting this year. Never seen a team so completely fall apart without their QB. I read an article a while back that talked about when Aaron Rodgers was drafted, Brett Favre was 36, same age as Peyton is now. Wonder how Peyton is gonna react when his replacement is drafted in the next couple of years..... hehehehehehe.....

I have to say that it probably shows how much Manning covered for a lot of weaknesses the Colts have had over the years. Don't know too many QB's that could carry a team like Manning has during his time in Indy...weak defenses, very poor running game most years, and most receivers who left Indy and did well there, never did as well after leaving. I'm not even a Colts fan, but you have to respect a player who has done what Manning has done. From your post, I am guessing you are most likely a Pats fan...they have had some solid teams over the years and were smart to not depend too much on one player to cover up weaknesses. Although I would be concerned with their recent lack of defense over the last couple of years.

You would be guessing wrong on me being a Pats fan.....truth be told, I'm a bitter Houston Oiler fan who still mourns our Houston Luv Ya Blue pride dying a horrifying death on the field in Buffalo and watching it become Luv Ya Blew It....as a bitter Oiler fan, I can say that I believe that the Tennessee Titans will never win a Super Bowl as long as there is a single Oiler left on their team....and that includes the owner Bud Adams. *mumbles the Houston curse on Bud Adams three times while facing east*
I think the Peyton situation shows why you can't build your team around one player so completely....it has to be a team...you have to be able to perform even when the team leader goes down....it's not the Peyton Manning Colts...it's supposed to be a team. My comment has more to do with the folly of building an entire team around one player and the consequences you get when you do that than any hidden meaning because I'm a fan of some other team.
and just to add....being born & raised in Texas does NOT make me a Cowboy fan....altho I live with one. Now living in Georgia, I'm also not a big Falcons fan....the Michael Vick hype & media love here was not my thing....

It would be wise for the Colts to draft a QB now. Right now, I might have Barkeley (USC) just as good as Luck (Stanford).

The Rams have Sam Bradford, so they probably wouldn't take Luck. I don't see any team going 0-16 (let alone two,) so it'll come down to a handful of 2 or 3 win teams.

I'm not saying that Luck isn't good, but he does come from a run first type offense. I wonder if he would have the same level of success if he had to throw the ball 30 times like Indy is currently set up (yes I know this could change, but I don't see it with the backs they have right now). Miami isn't really much better at it. Sometimes the system a player ends up in can be a big factor in determining success, along with ending up with a Coach who has the ability to see the best fit.

The way things are going the colts may end up 14 and 2. They do have one of the tougher schedules. Bradford and Luck would be a good choice. i would pick either. Both are big and strong which is a base requirement in the pro's now. There are several good quarterbacks out there but may not be durable enough for the NFL>

Next week when Carolina and Indy play will go a long way in determining the first pick.
