Good grief, did you even receive a W-2?
I've been tempted a couple of times to file on the basis of my last paycheck and previous years' W-2 (which contain EIN numbers), but I never had the guts.

You just reminded me to file for an extension. It is automatic. Too many variables to file early. I have yet to receive my w2, the plethora of 1099s, plus there will likely be revised 1099s. I do not see myself even broaching the topic with my cpa for months.

Good for you!
The accountants finally filed our taxes in November (we get more time because we are overseas) and I just hated it. It was the first time we had to go through the extension process (had to because of needing to spend x days overseas). It not like the process is painful enough but to drag it out for 10 more months....Arrrrrgh!
I sure hope this year is different.

Good grief, did you even receive a W-2? On a stroke of luck, our W2's and 1099 both came in the mail yesterday, and that's all I've got. My daycare gave us our statement last week. I'm not rolling in investment accounts like most posters here. We only have one savings account, and that's it for 1099's.

Do I get booted off the board if I admit to a refund? Hey, it's what works for us.

The only thing I've received so far is my 1098T from the state.
I do like to file ASAP so it bugs me that our jobs and banks are so much slower than yours.

Geez, that sure was quick. Yours might be the first one the IRS received! LOL

I gathered all of our tax stuff and dropped them off at the CPA's office on January 4. He called me on January 5 and said that they're done ... but he can't print or e-filed them until the IRS finalizes changes to Schedule A (we itemize) .... so MY part's been done for 10 days ... now we're just waiting for the government to speed things up. Yes, we're getting a refund. Yes, it's an interest-free loan to the government of about $45. Yes, that's early ... but my wonderful DH's W-2 was available online as of January 4.

I already got my W2 and one of my student loan interest forms (1098?), just a couple more pieces and I'm ready to roll as well. I normally file in February; I like to get just it over and done with.

In '09 we got a tip on a stock and so bought it. It has done real well, so I can't complain. But it's not exactly a regular corporation. It's a Master Limited Partnership which issues a K-1, not a 1099. Their website says the K-1s will be available March 10, so I can't finalize our return until then. Oh well.

I haven't received a single form needed to help me file my taxes. I'm a federal retiree and they don't mail the pension information until about January 31.
This year it doesn't matter since I can't file due to Schedule A.
