Do you wear it? What do you have? How do you store it? I have a ritual of sorts with my Mom-I visit, we look thru her jewelry furniture thingy and she then shows me her new clothes to match :-) I was very excited to find hypoallergenic Swarovski crystal earrings for Christmas this year at DressBarn that I actually do not react to-I have a raging allergy to cheap metal. I usually only wear jewelry once a year at Christmas because of it. Its time to elevate my storage-I am using a fishing tackle container currently

I like fake, chunky necklaces and bracelets. I haven't worn my diamond tennis bracelet in years as it's just not my style anymore. I also hate rings so I haven't worn my engagement or wedding ring in about 12 years. If I am wearing my hair up I will wear cute earings. If I am wearing my hair down there is no point as you can't see my ears through my hair.

I wear a watch (which I guess has almost become jewelry nowadays, since I could always tell time with my cell phone). I also wear a ring that once belonged to my great-grandfather (it was actually a pinky ring for him, though it fits my ring finger), which was passed down to my grandfather who gave it to me. When he first gave it to me, I didn't wear it (I wasn't used to wearing a ring). When he got sick, I started to wear it. Now that he's gone, it reminds me that he's always with me.

I wear a watch and small diamond studs in each ear. Occassionally I will put in pearl earrings. Mostly I am too lazy to switch earrings. For special occassions I have a pair of ruby and diamond earrings my Dad gave me one year for Christmas.
I have other jewelry that I never wear. It is stored in my grandma's jewelry box. It was given to me when she passed away.

Get a wooden jewelry box that has PLENTY of space. [Stores rings, necklaces and plenty of earrings] Mine has a lift out tray for added storage.
An antique one would be nice.
One that would last you a lifetime or be an heirloom.

I have "some" jewelry: A saphire/diamond ring, an emerald/diamond ring, an opal ring, and some amethyst/diamond earrings, in addition to my wedding band (wide gold band with a solitaire diamond). I wear my wedding ring when DH and I go out, but not around the house or when I run errands. The other jewelry I wear if we go somewhere formal which is seldom.
I'm not really a jewelry person. All pieces were given to me as gifts from either DH or my parents.
I store it in a jewelry bag and keep it locked up at home so that it is readily available IF I want to wear it.

Ummm, think high maintenance here, wear diamond watch, diamond cross and earings wedding ring and 25th anniversary ring daily...add too it various rubies, diamonds, pearls...etc.
Stored in a jewelery chest that looks like a dresser to accommodate Mom's and Grandma's as well.

I have a rolex watch, my one great luxury purchase I wear it everyday and probably will for the rest of my life since I spent a lot of money on it. I also wear a white sapphire ring (dear bf bought me for Christmas) and a couple of silver rings - one is my "life verse" jeremiah 29:11 and a silver flower ring. I usually wear earrings to work - I have some pearl earrings and some brighton earrings - I bought an earring holder off of ebay. I also have about 15 Brighton necklaces that I wear depending on my outfit and a gold cross necklase and a few others. This are hanging from hooks that I put up in my bathroom so that I would be able to see them all and be able to pick out what I wanted to wear. I have some good diamond jewery as well but it was all bought by my ex husband so I never wear it. It is locked up in my house. I never wear bracelets though after I got one stuck in the copier and it was really embarrassing when I had to explain how it happened and get help to get un-stuck. LOL. But I do wear a gold heart anklet too.

I wear my wedding ring (it's a replacement, I broke the original) It's a custom made gold and white gold claddagh band with a couple of diamonds. Also, the engagement ring that DH's grandfather gave his grandmother on their 25th anniversary. The engagement ring is platinum and diamonds and the two rings compliment each other as if they were a set, rather than made decades apart. I also wear a claddadagh ring on my right hand, partly because I can't get if off and haven't been able to for years. I wear a silver choker with a silver ball with Celtic symbols as well as Celtic knot/claddagh earrings. Are you sensing a trend? I also wear a watch. I put my favorite citizen watch through the wash a couple of years ago and have never found another that I liked as well. I finally settled for a new Citizen that has a perpetual battery that runs on any kind of light, so that's kind of cool. No buying batteries ever again. I have dozens of other earrings and necklaces and bracelets, I just tend to wear my favorites everyday.

I, too, have the "raging" allergy to cheap metal; mine is to the nickel component, which is in stainless, sterling, just about everything except I can wear 14K gold on up. I bought some rings (ruby, emerald, amythyst, tanzanite) with my inheritance to remember my Mom by in a nice jewelery store. Also a pair of diamond studs. I garden heavily in the summer and have ultra short nails then, so the jewelery is put away until they grow out a little in the fall, and I wear it until spring starts and I start digging in the dirt. My allergy is nickel is so severe, that when I had (very successful) back surgery two years ago, the surgeon ordered platinum brace and screws for the fusion b/c the normal stainless steel wouldn't have healed and it all would have been taken out again...would have been a hellish mess.

I wear earrings anytime I go anywhere. I have several pair of very nice one, pearl, diamond, emerald, and sapphire. Not ultra expensive, but a few hundred dollars, some $400 or so. I have a very nice dinner ring I wear in lieu of my wedding and engagement ring, not sure why, just got to be a habit. It has a karat and a half sapphire, about 16 diamonds, round and baguette, its a very pretty ring and I just like it. Hubby and I bought it around our 20th anniversary. It's worth a few dollars, I get compliments on it too. I have a lot of cheap bracelets some I wear some I don't. but a few nice ones. But I rarely leave home without earrings on, a watch, and a ring. Also makeup, unless we are working on stuff and I'm going to Home Depot or I'm mowing at a rental, then I look like a slob. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 26 years old (which was quite a few years ago), but I wear earrings everyday. Even if I don't wear my wedding band or any other jewelry, I still wear earrings everyday. I have quite an assortment of not-too-expensive jewelry and a fair amount of vintage jewelry, most of it found super cheap on eBay (like, I have several pairs of really neat earrings that cost me $0.99+shipping). I don't have a diamond engagement ring--Hubby and I were never engaged...we just got married one day!--but I do have a white gold wedding band with some filigree detailing. Among my more expensive pieces (though they didn't really cost all that much...several hundred dollars perhaps) is a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings that Hubby bought for my birthday following our wedding. They're really nice earrings, but not really my style (they're too nice and elegant, if you know what I mean, and just don't look right unless I'm dressed quite formally). In order to have more occasions to wear them, I bought myself a beautiful antique sapphire ring to match with them (this was my birthday gift this year).

I always wear my wedding band, stopped wearing my engagement ring after my first baby (it's a princess cut and I was scared it would scratch ds) and will usually put on some earrings. Only when I'm really getting dressed up or doing something nice will I pull out the necklaces and nicer stuff. Used to wear a diamond necklace dh gave me our first Christmas daily until ds became grabby and almost broke the chain!
The good stuff is locked up at home. The earrings that I wear the most are in a small tray on my dresser for easy access. And everything else is stored in a non-tarnishing, revolving jewelry case. MIL got it for me and it's got the hooks for necklaces/bracelets, slots for rings and earrings along with little bins and pockets for odds and ends.

I have a few pieces of sterling that my dad made for me - it was his hobby. And a couple of pieces that my dad did in gold that DH paid for the materials. But most days I wear a gold cross with a tiny diamond that DH gave me before we were married, a pair of fake diamond studs, my wedding set and a watch. I tried going without a watch and just using the cell but never felt like I knew what time it was. Old habits die hard or you can't teach a old dog new tricks? Any way, what I have that isn't cheap costume stuff is hidden away where it hopefully wouldn't be found if we were broken into as we have been there before. Lost lots of my dad's early pieces that we could never afford to have replaced.

I have a very pretty white gold/purple stone/diamond ring that I bought after my divorce for a replacement ring. Also diamond hoop (small) earrings and a self-winding mechanical watch that I just love that are my everyday items. Also bought myself a white gold necklace with a diamond and black pearl pendant that I bought when I graduated college. I wore it nearly every day until about two months ago when I accidentally got battery acid on the pearl I had replaced the chain a couple times and have almost worn a groove on the part that goes around the chain. Right now I'm wearing a "hope" necklace with a small heart that a friend gave to me (kisses to you, you know who you are!) until I can find a new black pearl as pretty as the one before (it used to be black and shiny with a lot of purple color to it, stupid, stupid, stupid battery acid!!!!!) 8 years after I bought it I still got compliments on it all the time. Oh, and when I'm in the mood I wear a ring made during WWII by a man that became a POW. It has part of a mercury dime for the face, and it's engraved with the year and place on the side (1942). It's trench art so it's made with a cheap metal (other than some silver) so I can only wear it for a couple days or my finger turns green.

I have a stand alone jewelry chest that is totally full of vintage and other, higher dollar jewelry. Most of the costume pieces I bought at estate sales 20 years ago when I would go with my parents. Back then, the pieces were just considered ugly and were selling for $1-2 per bag of stuff. Most bags had several items per bag, so the jewelry box filled up quickly.
Since then, I've discovered I have a sensitivity to costume earrings. I can't wear most of the pieces I have without my ears hurting. I also can't wear lower end sterling silver - it's got to be the "good" stuff or gold or I can't wear it at all. I trained DH well - told him from the start not to buy me anything jewelry related cheap or I wouldn't wear it and would have to take it back. He didn't believe me at first, but did after seeing what my ears looked like after indulging my mom one Christmas with wearing a pair she had gotten me.
I was just looking through the chest a few weeks ago and I really need to get some of the pieces appraised to see if they are worth anything. I have several Giovanni pieces (I recognize the name, but have no idea if it means anything in the jewelry world) and one necklace that looks and feels like it's made of pure jade (very heavy).

Rose, that's exactly why I stopped wearing my enagement ring. I DID scratch my oldest's cheek when she was just a few months old. I was horrified! For awhile I just wore my wedding band because I was only in my 20's and didn't want to look like a single mom (no judgment, but since I wasn't one I didn't want to look like one). However, my wedding band is just a plain gold band and while it looked nice next to my diamond, it looked dull alone...so eventually I stopped wearing both of them.

I always wear my engagement ring and wedding band and only take them off when I'm making meatballs or meatloaf. I'll wear simple hoops on some days and usually a simple necklace. I have a couple of long necklaces or cool/trendy earrings, but I'm pretty minimalist when it comes to jewelry.
I also have a navel ring.

I'm another one that is highly allergic to cheap jewelry. The only thing I wear is my wedding set, DH's wedding band and a mother's ring that DH and DS gave me for Christmas one year.
I have me ears double pierced but haven't worn earrings in years due to my allergy.
I have contemplated a navel piercing, but I would need to lose some weight (or at least tone up) first

I am also allergic to nickel and silver. I found out at age thirteen when my mother bought me a pair of sterling silver earrings with this gorgeous filigree pattern for my birthday. My ears started getting HOT, and when I took them off to go to sleep they were sore and red. The next morning they were bleeding and had pus coming out.
Since then, it is always 14K at a minimum. I did buy two white gold pairs to have variety. I have a Timex watch that mom gave me two years ago that is two-tone, so it matches all of my earrings.
My two favorite pieces are a peridot and diamond ring that I bought from HSN five years ago. It is square and modern and totally cool. I regret to this day that I did not buy the matching earrings. My second favorite piece is a necklace from the collection that Tarina Tarantino did for kidrobot. It has black acrylic links, and a robot head medallion. I have gotten several offers for it when I wear it out in public.
I have a leather jewelry box that I bought at Fossil a while ago, it mainly stores my high school ring, and random cheap bracelets. Everything else is thrown on top of my dresser.

I didn't realize it was so common. I have super sensitive skin--heck, I'm even allergic to 99% of the deodorants on the market!--but I don't seem to have inherited this particular allergy. I do wonder, though, if waiting so long to get my ears pierced (age 26) bestowed some sort of anti-allergy benefit to me?

I'm allergic to something, but I haven't narrowed down what. I can wear sterling silver, even the cheap stuff, but 14k gold and cheaper makes my ears hot and itchy after a couple hours. 18K or better is fine though, and so is Platinum. And I've found that Lia Sophia works too. I generally wear a cheap silver ring 24/7, earrings everywhere except to bed, and a watch to work. I have a few necklaces I wear on occasion, and a few bracelets I hardly ever wear. My earrings are usually cheap silver ones, although I have a pair of nice diamond ones from my exh that I managed to mostly disassociate the memory from that I'll wear sometimes too. I have a pearl necklace and diamond and pearl earrings from him too that I only wear on special occasions (read: every couple of years ). I keep it all in a jewelry armoire in the bedroom. Not the safest if I get robbed, but as we've already determined in another thread, I'm lazy.

I only wear my wedding ring (gave up wearing a watch when I retired . My wife loves jewelry (I think) but almost never wears it. She does have a jewelry case that's full (the kind with a viewing mirror). We have 60 or 70 different pieces of Swarovski jewelry but don't buy it to wear. I buy it when I find a really good deal on it or get it free (it comes in a swarovski auction). It just sits there taking up room in our cabinets. Sooner or later it will be either sold or mounted in a glass display & put on a wall.
