I'm getting married in May to someone who loves to "go places" but usually ends up just lounging on the beach wherever they go. Not only do I not enjoy traveling, I also don't enjoy just sitting around all day doing nothing if I DO go somewhere. We're in Iowa.
So far the only idea has been some kind of Alaskan cruise...not too hot, time on the boat to do nothing, time off the boat to go out and do stuff, but probably exceeds the honeymoon time of 1 week (7 days) to really enjoy once we get to port and get home again. The Alaskan cruise is probably something we do another year when she's not already using up all her vacation to plan the wedding.
Any other ideas? The real requirement is that there must be things "to do" while there. Vegas is the other idea, but will be HOT in May and means we'll likely spend the entire honeymoon not seeing one another as I go on a 7 day gambling binge.
Train to Yellowstone? Week in Chicago? Other ideas where people think we could kill a week's worth of time without making it all about the "travel". (the flying and hassle of airports is my biggest annoyance with travel, and at 6'6" the plane ride isn't comfy either).

Hawaii? Once you get there, you can do beaches, hiking, surfing, etc. Napa Valley is also an option if you like wine.

I like the idea of going to Napa, there are some incredible B&Bs there and a lot of good restaurants that you and visit along with the vineyards.
Last Feb, TD and I went to Playa del Carmen for a week. It'd probably be hotter in May, but you can go snorkeling and there were a lot of tours that you could sign up for - some quite interesting. It wasn't a horribly long flight into Cancun either (Playa was about 45 min away).

Why not do San Francisco and the greater Bay Area of California? You could even include a drive to Napa (wine country) or Yosemite National Park? (We honeymooned in Yosemite in April ... just gorgeous, by the way!)

We went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (west coast) for our honeymoon and had a great time! There were dinner cruises, zip line tours, horse back riding, swimming with the dolphins, etc. A very laid back environment but still stuff to do.
And I've heard that if you tell them at the gate it's your honeymoon they might bump you up to first class. The least you can do is ask for a bulkhead or exit row seat due to your height. (DH has the same problem)

In my experience, unless you're at least a silver FF with an airline, you'll have a better chance of getting an exit row seat than a bulkhead.
I can get an exit row seat about 25% of the times I fly, but I can't remember the last time I was able to score a bulkhead seat.

I'm getting married this summer and we aren't sure about the honeymoon yet, but we always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise, so that's definitely a contender. I totally get the wanting to DO something when you're somewhere - personally I wouldn't mind doing some hiking/trekking, but DF thinks since it's a honeymoon we should basically just relax and sight-see and stuff. We'd really like to get to Greece (where his father was from), but that's a big pricey trip we'll probably wait on.
I bet you could find a 5-night Alaskan cruise too, since the trip length is a concern?

I've taken an Alaskan cruise. I've been to Hawaii. I've been to Napa. If those were my only choices for a honeymoon, I'd take Hawaii.

Go North in the summer and South in the winter. But Hawaii any time.

Go to St Lucia and stay at one of the Sandals Resorts. If you like Golf, play the course, See the Volcano, soak in the Spanish Hot Springs that come out of the Volcano, Hike the Rain Forest. The food is Great, Spa is Great. One of the most Romantic Places on the Earth. Me and the Wife have been to the Caribbean several times but St Lucia is by far the Best. JMO

Do you live in a big city? Why not book a suite in a classy hotel and do/see all the things that you always meant to do/see but just haven't gotten around to? You can either make your own plans or tell the hotel in advance to have the concierge do it for you. Or decide which places you want to go and ask them to have the concierge make the arrangements. See a play or two. See the tourist attractions. Take the Gray Line tours in your city so that you won' t have to worry about parking, getting in and out of the car to move on to the next place. Visit a local brewery or winery or both if you have them where you are.
If there's a park nearby, have the hotel kitchen make up a picnic basket for you and eat lunch in the park one day.
You can afford the suite/pricey hotel because you're not spending anything on travel. You win both ways since you're not wild about traveling, and you'll be out and doing things rather than sitting on beach on your dead center (or gambling away the family fortune in the air-conditioned comfort of Vegas casinos).

Not much we haven't done in the area really. I think this is the kind of thing we'd do if we decided to go somewhere nearby though. Minneapolis, KC, Chicago (or even somewhere small like Omaha). Just get a nice hotel and relax doing some touristy stuff. The Charleston recommendation by xmascookie is one we're heavily considering too since her parents have a timeshare and Charleston is one of the areas we can stay. Her parents went last year and loved the atmosphere.

I'm a CA Native, and have been to San Francisco more times than I can count. I hate that city (I call it San Francesspool), and only set foot there when I absolutely have to. I would suggest Monterey, CA. It is very tourist-friendly, cheaper than SF, and there are all kinds of touristy things to do there and in the general area.

For a honeymoon, I would look into Orlando as Snerdley suggested. Night life, roller coasters at Universal, Sea World, and of course Disney (we have been in the parks over 40 times - and there are definitely adult ways to enjoy them). You could also bounce over to the coast for a few days if you want to give her the gift of some time at the beach like she enjoys.
